Chapter 1160:
He sat in silence for a moment, then gently took hold of my hand to stop me from pulling my hair. “Makenna, I’m ready to be part of the exchange.”
Makenna’s POV:
Jett’s words struck me like a thunderbolt, leaving me reeling in disbelief.
“Jett, what are you saying?” I snapped my head up, my eyes locking onto his with a mixture of shock and dread. “No! I can’t let you throw your life away like this!”
Yet Jett stood resolute, his gaze unwavering, his decision clearly etched in stone.
“Makenna, this is my only path forward. I can’t stand idly by while Alice and Winfred face death.”
My heart sank, tears streaming down my cheeks as sorrow overwhelmed me.
“But…”
Words failed me, my throat constricted with emotion, rendering me speechless.
Jett, seeing my distress, reached out with a tender hand, brushing away my tears with a look of deep concern. “Don’t fret, Makenna. I’m not one to meet my end so easily.”
Nearby, Alden lingered in silence, his eyes flickering with a tangle of emotions.
I shook my head, my vision blurred by tears, Jett’s form reduced to a hazy silhouette.
“They won’t think twice about killing you…”
Jett offered a faint smile, a serene calm washing over him. “I don’t fear death. If my sacrifice can save Alice and Winfred, I’ll do whatever it takes—they mean the world to you.”
I knew Jett’s mind was made up, but the thought of him offering himself up was a bitter pill I couldn’t swallow.
After a prolonged silence, Alden spoke, his voice measured. “Jett, are you certain? If you’re set on this, I’ll rally our forces immediately to ensure your safety. Colt Bates is a cunning adversary, but we cany the groundwork to outmaneuver him.”

“No!” I cried out, my heart torn asunder, grappling with an unbearable choice. “Please, just give me a moment to think… I need time to sort this out…”
As despair threatened to engulf me, the door swung open, and Bryan stepped inside.
After days of healing, the wound from the arrow that had pierced his shoulder was nearly mended.
The moment Bryan entered, he sensed the gravity in the room, his brow furrowing as he asked in a hushed tone, “What’s happened here?”
Exhausted, I met Bryan’s gaze and handed him the letter. “Read this.”
Bryan took the letter, his expression darkening with each line he scanned.
After a heavy pause, he drew a deep breath, lifted his eyes to us, and spoke with deliberate calm. “We cannot surrender Jett to them. Doing so would signal weakness, inviting the Wizard n to exploit us further.”
His gaze softened as it settled on me. “Moreover, given recent events, it’s clear Antoni has allied with the Wizard n. With his vendetta against you, he’ll seize this opportunity to tighten the noose.”
Bryan’s words, though logical, pierced my heart like a dagger.
He was right, but what choice did we have?
