Chapter 1156

    ?Chapter 1156:

He lounged in a huge chair, his expression chilling and taunting. “Alice, what a delightful surprise! In the end, you’ve fallen right into my hands.”

I clutched Winfred closely, doing my best to protect him. I shot Antoni an icy re and retorted, “What do you want from us? Makenna will never forgive you for this!”

Antoni let out a derisiveugh, a flicker of contempt in his eyes. His tone dripped with malice as he mocked, “Makenna? She can’t even stand on her own right now. How could she ever spare a thought for you two?”

With that, he gestured with his hand, instructing his men to take us away.

Without hesitation, two soldiers stepped forward. They roughly yanked me up and dragged Winfred and me down a dim corridor.

Before long, we found ourselves pushed into a frigid, damp cell, reeking of mold and decay, making it hard to breathe. In one corner, a heap of rotting straw sat, while rats skittered across the grimy floor. Winfred cried out in distress, his small hands gripping my clothes tightly.

I nced down at him, tears threatening to spill from my eyes, but I fought them back and gently rubbed his back. “Don’t be afraid, Winfred. I will protect you and make sure you see your mom again.” Deep down, though, I was gripped by fear.

I had no idea if Makenna knew we had been captured or if she woulde to our aid.

Antoni was right behind us, his gaze sharp and filled with malice. Upon hearing what I said, he replied in a voice as frigid as a winter’s night, “Right now, you should be more concerned about staying alive.”

He spoke while spinning a shiny dagger in his hand, his fingers gliding along the sharp de with unsettling uracy. His frigid gaze settled on me.

A wave of fear washed over me, and I instinctively pulled Winfred closer into my arms. “What are you nning to do?”

Antoni took his time responding. He approached slowly, the sound of his shoes echoing softly on the floor.

When he was right in front of me, he looked down with a sneer full of scorn and malice.

“Do you have any clue about what happened to Evie and her grandma?” Antoni asked softly, his tone carrying a disturbing gentleness.

My heart plummeted, and a wave of dread washed over me.

“You… what did you do to Evie and her grandma?” I fixed my gaze on him, my voice shaking despite my efforts to stay calm.

Antoni’s mouth twisted into a wicked grin as he slowly lifted the dagger, letting the de gently brush against my cheek.

The chill of it sent shivers cascading down my spine.

His voice was quiet and purposeful, as if telling a captivating tale. “Evie… she took her grandmother’s life with her own hands. Ha-ha…”

Hearing those words sent an icy wave through me, paralyzing me to the bone.

“You despicable monster!” I spat through clenched teeth. “How could you be so heartless?”

Antoni chuckled loudly, pulling back the dagger, his eyes gleaming with cruelty. “Don’t be too hasty to me me. Soon, I’ll be sending you to join her grandmother.”

As he spoke, he lifted the dagger once more. “I’ll disfigure your face, chop off your limbs, and leave you nothing more than a breathing shell. I bet even then, Makenna will go to great lengths to rescue you, won’t she?”

I clutched Winfred tightly, feelings of hopelessness crashing over me.
