?Chapter 1151:
His words made me smile, a warm, genuine smile. Even though my heart still felt heavy, I couldn’t help but feel that, for now, I wasn’t by myself.
When Dominic saw me smile, his expression softened. He took my hand gently and asked, “How about eating something? I brought some light food that I thought you might like.”
I nodded, ready to say “yes,” but just then, I heard quick footstepsing from outside. The door swung open, and yton walked in, holding a food box.
His eyes scanned the room before settling on Dominic. His face turned serious, and with a touch of annoyance, he asked, “What are you doing here?”
Dominic raised an eyebrow, his expression daring. His voice waszy, but full of challenge as he said, “Of course I’m here to have a meal with Makenna. Do you have a problem with that?”
His eyes then shifted to the food box in yton’s hand. With a slight sneer, he added, “If we were waiting on you to bring food, Makenna would be starving by now.”
yton’s face darkened, his eyes narrowing with coldness at Dominic’s words. He let out a harshugh and shot back, “I’m not as free as you. I’ve got plenty to do. Not like some people who just sit around all day trying to win Makenna over.”
Dominic kept his smile, but his eyes turned icy. He stood up, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Oh, really? Well, why don’t you share what’s kept you so busy?”
yton’s fists tightened, and the tension between them grew. In a hurry, I jumped to my feet and stepped in between them, saying, “Okay, okay, enough with the arguing. I’m hungry, so let’s all eat together, alright?”
Dominic nced at me, the coldness in his eyes easing just a little. He shrugged and said, “Since you’re asking, I won’t argue with him.” yton let out a snort but didn’t say anything more. He moved to the table and opened the food box.
Inside were several beautifully prepared dishes and a familiar bottle of grape wine.
I was surprised and couldn’t help but ask, “Is this… the wine from that vineyard?”
yton nodded, his expression softening as he gently stroked my cheek. “I know you’re feeling down. Maybe a little wine will help cheer you up.”
Makenna’s POV:
A pleasant shock coursed through me. My bottled-up emotions longed for the relief that a drink could offer.
I looked into yton’s eyes and said, “I appreciate it. I really need this right now.”
yton shed a warm smile, grabbed the bottle, and poured me a ss of wine. He handed it to me, saying, “Eat something first. It’s not good to drink on an empty stomach.”
I nodded, took my utensils, and had a bite. After chewing a few times, I quickly picked up the ss and took a sip.
The taste of the wine filled my mouth, lifting the heaviness from my heart.
Unable to resist, I took another big gulp.
yton warned me, “Take it easy. Don’t rush.”
Iughed softly, my words a little slurred, “It’s fine. I can hold my liquor.”
As I knocked back ss after ss, my mind began to blur.
Dominic shot a disapproving nce at yton and muttered, “You shouldn’t have brought so much. Drinking like this isn’t good for her.” He then walked over, ced his hand on my shoulder, and said, “Makenna, you’re drunk. Let me help you to bed.”
I nodded sleepily, letting him assist me to my feet.
