Chapter 1132

    ?Chapter 1132:

I stood rooted to the spot, her words sinking deep into my thoughts, my eyes still locked on the three princes standing below.

After a moment, I drew a steadying breath, pushed open the door, and descended the stairs one deliberate step at a time.

The rain had softened to a drizzle, leaving the air thick with dampness and a subtle, biting chill.

As soon as the princes caught sight of me, their eyes glistened with emotion.

Bryan took a hesitant step forward, his hand twitching as if to reach for me, only to falter and fall back to his side.

Dominic’s lips parted briefly as if words were on the tip of his tongue, but he bowed his head and stayed silent.

After a tense pause, yton’s gaze met mine, his face etched with apprehension. He spoke first, his voice tentative. “Makenna… are you still upset with us?”

I froze, my thoughts a tangled mess, unsure how to answer.

After a heavy silence, I managed to speak, my voice rough and strained. “You… stood out here all night?”

“We heard what our father told you… We didn’t know how to ease your pain, so we stayed, hoping to make things right,” Dominic said, lifting his gaze, a spark of anxiety flickering in his eyes. His usual poise was gone, reced by a raw vulnerability as if his confidence had crumbled.

Bryan’s voice quivered as he added, “We had no clue about our father’s true nature, or the violent history he hid. Makenna, we’re not begging for absolution, but please don’t shut us out.”

His words broke off, thick with emotion, his trembling fingers clutching my sleeve as if fearing I would pull away.

Their eyes held such genuine sincerity that I couldn’t find it in me to respond with coldness or push them aside.

After a long pause, I reached out, gently grasping Bryan’s hand in return.

“I’m not angry with you,” I said, my voice raspy, as if dragged from the depths of my chest. “I just… I’m struggling to face you right now.”

At my words, the tension in their postures visibly melted.

Seeing them so raw and unguarded softened my resolve further, and the bitterness I had been clinging to began to fade.

I let out a quiet sigh, my tone warming. “It’s freezing out here. Come inside and get warm. I’ll have the servants fetch some dry clothes.”

The three princes exchanged quick nces before following me into the house.

The servants promptly brought fresh towels and clothing, which the princes changed into, drying their sodden hair. Still, their faces betrayed lingering unease.

It was such an unfamiliar sight, these usually confident princes so subdued, that I had to hide a small smile behind my hand. I signaled for the servants to bring breakfast and set it on the table.

Theforting aroma of warm bread and the gentle steam of hot milk began to ease the heaviness in the room.

“Now that you’re in dry clothes, sit and eat,” I said.

“Alright,” they replied in unison, settling around the table and beginning to eat quietly.

For a time, the only sound was the soft tter of cutlery.
