?Chapter 1121:
Connolly’s words hung in the air, each syble a tangled web of deception.
I unleashed augh devoid of warmth. “You’re lying, aren’t you? Connolly, you were already entangled with Irene and found Makenna’s mother’s identity troubling. So you decided to eliminate her, didn’t you?”
Connolly’s face drained of all color, icy beads of sweat trickling down his ashen forehead. He remained on his knees, mouth agape yet…
Wordless, trapped between desperate defense and paralyzing terror, Connolly’s expression was a mixture of dread and hopelessness. My gaze pierced him like winter frost, as murderous thoughts began to crystallize within my mind.
If Makenna’s mother truly was Josie, then I would rip her daughter to shreds! I would drag her daughter down to hell alongside her!
Drawing a measured breath, I forced the volcanic rage in my chest to subside. With a dismissive flick of my wrist, I issued a frigidmand. “Take Connolly and his family to Marehelm. I will journey to Marehelm personally and use them to bend Makenna to my will!”
The soldiers surged forward at once, roughly seizing Connolly and his family.
“Your Majesty… spare me… spare me…” Connolly’s broken whimpers followed him as the soldiers dragged him away, his pleas dissolving into incoherent sounds of desperation.
His daughter remained huddled in the corner, lost in a fog of madness, her vacant eyes staring through reality as though the world around her had ceased to exist.
I paid her no mind and led my entourage in a sweeping procession toward Marehelm.
Upon our arrival, my forces had already encircled Marehelmpletely, forming an iron ring around the city. Beyond the walls, a sea of armed soldiers stood vignt, creating an unbreachable perimeter.
“What’s the situation?” From my elevated position, I cast a cial stare across the besieged city walls before turning to address the soldiers at my side.

Themander rushed forward, dropping to one knee as he responded with evident trepidation, “Your Majesty, Marehelm’s fortifications prove formidable and resistant to assault. We’ve failed to prate their defenses, resulting in a tactical deadlock.”
“Ipetent fools!” My words sliced through the air as I skewered themander with a contemptuous nce. “With such numbers at your disposal, you can’t subdue a mere city like Marehelm? What purpose do you serve?”
Themander bowed lower, perspiration glistening on his forehead as he faltered, “Your Majesty, I implore you to temper your displeasure. We shall breach Marehelm’s walls without dy!”
I released a derisive snort, my voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. “That won’t be necessary. I have something better in mind.” With a dismissive wave, I sent him away. Turning to the guard standing attentively beside me, I ordered, “Send someone to the city gates. Tell them I wish to speak with Makenna personally. Inform her that an extraordinary gift awaits her.”
Makenna’s POV:
“Miss Dunn, the king has arrived in person. He insists on seeing you.” A soldier burst into the conference hall, dropping to one knee as urgency etched deep lines across his face.
I raised my head slowly, a cold wave of unease washing through me as my brows knitted together.
