?Chapter 1111:
I sighed, resigned. “I’m not. I just didn’t sleep wellst night, that’s all.”
When we finally arrived at the Pierce family residence, something felt off.
The moment we stepped through the doors, the atmosphere hit me like a cold wave. The air was thick. Tense. Servants darted about, tight-lipped and clearly rattled.
Then Dayton rushed out, face pale, voice urgent. “Your Highnesses, thank goodness. The king’s messenger has been waiting in the living room for quite some time. He insists on seeing you. Immediately.”
We froze mid-step, ncing at each other in rm.
The king? Why now? Had Leonardo discovered what we’d been up to? Could our movements have been exposed? Or had someone uncovered Jett’s identity?
A flood of possibilities raced through my mind as we entered the living room.
The messenger sat stiff-backed on the velvet sofa, dressed in ornate garb, a golden scroll glinting in his hand. His expression was stone-cold, with thinly veiled condescension. As we entered, he rose slowly, eyes raking over us before resting on the three princes.
“Your Highnesses, you’ve finally returned,” he said coldly. He unfurled the scroll with ceremonial ir and read in a voice that filled the chamber. “Bymand of His Majesty, the three princes are hereby ordered to return to the pce at once and relinquish all military authority. Any refusal will be considered an act of treason.”
Treason? Wasn’t that a bit extreme?
My heart sank, and I instinctively looked at the three princes.
Bryan looked like he’d bite someone’s head off. “We’re handling a critical situation in Marehelm. Leaving now is impossible. We willply with our father’s orders, but we need more time.”
The messenger gave a cold, condescending chuckle. “His Majesty’s orders are not subject to negotiation. Please don’t make this harder than it needs to be.”
?????????? ???????????????? ??????????????: ??????????ν??????.??????
yton stepped forward, eyes like shards of ice. “Is that a threat?”
“Merely a message,” the messenger replied smoothly, meeting his gaze head-on. “What you choose to make of it is entirely up to you.”
The room crackled with tension. Every breath felt drawn from a wire, stretched taut with the weight of what mighte next.
“I’ll obey our father, but Marehelm is in turmoil now. We will report back once we’ve handled the situation,” Dominic said sharply, ring at the messenger.
The messenger, however, appeared not to have heard him. There was not a shred of respect in his expression for the prince. Instead, his face showed arrogance and disdain.
“This is a direct order from His Majesty, and it is not negotiable,” the messenger retorted firmly. “Furthermore, His Majesty has heard about the fall of the werewolf forest and the sudden death of Cody, and he is furious.”
His gaze then fell on the three princes before him. “His Majesty will send people to Marehelm to conduct an investigation into these matters. If it is found that these incidents are connected to you, Your Highnesses, you will be punished severely.”
My heart sank upon hearing this.
Leonardo had discovered the werewolf forest incident? No wonder he sent a messenger here.
I looked at the three princes and saw that they all looked grim. yton stepped forward and, in a low, questioning tone, asked, “What do you mean by this?”
