?Chapter 1091:
His smile was soft, almost boyish, as he reached out and brushed a thumb along the edge of my eye, wiping away a tear I hadn’t noticed falling. “You’ve done more than enough, Makenna. Now you need to rest—and stop carrying it all on your own.”
I nodded and leaned against his shoulder, the warmth of him soaking into my skin.
His arms still had that uncanny ability to make the world disappear. Everything else—every shred of fear and uncertainty—just fell away.
I closed my eyes, letting his presence settle over me like a warm nket. His scent, familiar and grounding, anchored me as the storm in my chest slowly ebbed.
Then came a soft creak. The door opened, and Bryan stepped in.
He paused when he saw us—his eyes flicking between me and yton. A faint crease formed between his brows, but he quickly smoothed it out, his expression returning to its usualposed calm.
“The situation outside has mostly stabilized,” he said, striding toward the bed. His voice was all business, but his eyes subtly tracked between yton and me. “But Pa still refuses to cooperate.”
As expected, the matter regarding Pa and the other white wolves had be the most challenging issue.
My heart gave a troubled lurch. I sat up, tension creeping back into my spine. “What did she say?”
Bryan sighed, dragging a hand through his hair. “She’s holding firm. Refuses to work with us. Worse—she’s threatening to take all the white wolf n members and leave.”
My stomach turned. I bit my lip, frustration bleeding into helplessness.
Everything had seemed like it was finally tipping in our favor—and yet…

Pa and the other white wolves were supposed to be our strongest allies. But she insisted on walking away. What should we do now?
yton must have sensed the change in me because his hand found my shoulder again in a reassuring pat. “We’ll find a way through this, Makenna. One step at a time.”
Just then, Dominic walked in.
He looked like he hadn’t slept—dark circles shadowed the skin beneath his eyes, and weariness tugged at the corners of his mouth.
But his gaze was stern and focused. “The most important thing right now is keeping the situation stable. If Pa leaves with the white wolves, our strength will be severelypromised.”
I nodded, feeling the weight of his words pressing down on me. “You’re right. We can’t let that happen.”
Losing Pa’s alliance would be a devastating blow. We needed her—we needed them.
I took a slow breath, gathering my resolve. “Once I’ve recovered a bit more, I’ll talk to her again.”
yton immediately reached for my hand. “When that timees, I’ll be with you.”
I looked up to meet his gaze. It held everything I needed in that moment—strength, reassurance, unwavering support. It wasforting to have him by my side.
Two dayster, I finally felt strong enough.
