Chapter 1089

    ?Chapter 1089:

Pa shook her head, resolute in her decision. “I will never cooperate with the sons of my enemy. Rest now, Makenna. I’m leaving.”

With that, she walked out without a backward nce.

I sank back onto the bed, drained. The air in the room felt oppressive.

Not long afterward, Jett pushed open the door and entered quietly, as if afraid to disturb me. He immediately noticed my gloomy mood. With a frown, he asked, “What did Pa say to you? Why do you look sad?”

I smiled bitterly. “Pa threatened to take all the n members and leave if I chose to cooperate with the three princes.”

Jett was silent for a moment. Finally, he said, “I understand how she feels. The white wolves have suffered so much over the years. It won’t be easy to let go of such hatred.”

I sighed heavily. “But we need toe together now. If Pa insists on leaving with the white wolves, our strength will be diminished, making it harder to fight Leonardo.”

Jett sat down beside my bed. I nced at him, meeting his gaze. We held eye contact for a while before I looked away with a sigh.

Jett reassured me, “Don’t dwell too much on this, Makenna. Time does heal all wounds. Pa will eventuallye around. The most important thing right now is that you take care of your health. You have to rest, okay?”

I nodded, though anxiety still knotted my stomach. I closed my eyes, trying to calm myself, but my thoughts remained chaotic.

Jett, sensing the turmoil within me, chose not to press the issue further. “Rest now. I’ll check on the progress of the antidote ande back immediately if there’s any news.”

He stood up to leave, but I gently caught the hem of his shirt and whispered, “Thank you for staying with me, Jett.”

Jett smiled warmly. “Don’t be silly. It’s nothing. Get some rest now.” He patted my head softly before leaving the room.

After he left, Iy on the bed staring at the ceiling, my mind racing.

Pa’s stance left me feeling helpless, but I knew I couldn’t give up. I had to find a way to make them ept the three princes.

Only then would we truly stand a chance against the Wizard n and the other threats ahead.

The following morning, I was gently awakened by soft movements nearby. Blinking away sleep, my eyes focused on yton’s face, bathed in the dim morning light.

He was leaning over me, carefully pulling the nket up around my shoulders, his fingers moving with quiet tenderness.

“Sorry,” he murmured with a sheepish smile when he noticed my eyes open. “I didn’t mean to wake you.”

Still half-dreaming, I rubbed my eyes and gave a small yawn.

yton eased an arm behind my back and helped me sit up before picking up a ss of warm water from the nightstand. “Drink this,” he said softly, bringing it to my lips. “It’ll soothe your throat.”

I took the ss, the warmthforting in my palms. One sip, and the fog in my mind began to lift, washing away thest remnants of sleep.

When I returned the empty ss to him, my gaze drifted up to his face. Beneath his eyes, I saw faint shadows of exhaustion—a subtle but telling sign. He hadn’t slept.
