?Chapter 1062:
yton listened with a knowing smile. Finally, he reached out and gently ran his hand through my hair. “You’re a brave and kind woman, Makenna. They would be fools not to like you. I’m sure your n members would be thrilled to meet you.”
His words put my troubled heart at ease. “I will make sure they ept me. I want to save them and clear the white wolves’ name,” I said, determination audible in my voice.
Suddenly, the troops ahead of us came to a halt. Bryan turned around, his eyes sweeping over us. In a loud voice, he began, “Ahead lies the prison where the white wolves are being held. The guards will be more vignt, so we must all be careful.”
Dominic also turned to me and said in a serious tone, “The situation here isplex, Makenna. Any mistake could have dire consequences. You must be careful and watch yourself. We can’t afford any errors at this point.”
“I’ll be careful,” I said earnestly.
“Traitors, all three of you! You betrayed the Lycan royal family for an ordinary woman!” a sharp voice suddenly rang out. The voice belonged to Rowell. He had managed to spit out the dirty cloth from his mouth. His bloodshot eyes red daggers at us. “You three will be punished severely. You’ll get no mercy from His Majesty.”
His words infuriated me so much that I walked up to him and kicked him furiously. “You should worry about yourself. You’re in no position to make threats.”
I then picked up the dirty cloth and stuffed it back into his mouth.
Rowell struggled to spit it out again but couldn’t.
Bryan impatiently signaled for Rowell to be taken away. He then turned to me, his face softening, and gently said, “Don’t pay attention to him, Makenna. You can deal with him as you wish when we get out of here. For now, let’s focus on the task at hand.”
“Alright,” I said, nodding, finally tearing my gaze from Rowell.

Bryan then cleared his throat, his expression growing serious. “We once had our soldiers break in here, so we have a rough idea of theyout of thend. The prison’s defenses are incredibly strong, and the guards are the best warriors of the werewolf n. Security would have been tightened considerably given the current situation.”
I was taken aback by Bryan’s words. Curiously, I asked, “How did your soldiers manage to get in before?”
Makenna’s POV:
Bryan’s voice rumbled as he recounted their earlier strategy. “A crew arrives every two weeks with provisions, andst time some people posed as them, counting on the guards’ rxed vignce to slip inside unnoticed. It was a bold n, but the cost was steep—too steep. Things have changed since then. They’ve adapted and sharpened their defenses after learning from our previous attempt. Repeating that approach isn’t an option.”
I blinked in astonishment, hardly believing they’d once infiltrated the werewolf forest with such a deceptive tactic.
“Charging in head-on would be reckless,” Dominic added, his voice smooth and measured. “But I remember something useful. To the east of the prison lies a tangled, overgrown woond. The undergrowth is thick, and venomous snakes roam freely there. The guards tend to avoid it, assuming no one would dare approach from that direction. It could be our way in.”
The mention of poisonous snakes sent a chill down my spine, my skin paling as dread crept over me.
