Chapter 994

    ?Chapter 994:

yton, who’d been observing from the sidelines, chimed in with a steady tone. “Antoni’s noble blood made him haughty and disdainful, lording over everyone. A fall like this will wound him deeper than any de ever could.”

At first, I grappled with confusion, but then rity struck me like lightning, and I pped my palms together. “Oh, I get it now! If we can’t kill him outright, let’s make sure every breath he takes is pure misery!”

yton stepped closer, his hand brushing through my hair in a tender, reassuring gesture. “Makenna, you don’t need to trouble yourself with this. Leave it to us.”

He then took the wooden box from my hand, lifted the lid, and pulled out the papers and envelopes nestled within. Bryan and Dominic swiftly gathered around him, the trio huddling over the materials.

I settled onto the couch, my eyes fixed on them, watching in silence. At first, their faces betrayed little emotion, but as they dug deeper into the documents, a shadow crept over their expressions.

Without warning, Bryan mmed his fist against the table, fury igniting in his gaze as he snarled through clenched teeth, “That bastard!”

The abrupt outburst jolted me, and I snatched a stray note from the table, skimming its words as I ventured, “What has made you so angry?”

My question died mid-sentence as my eyes raced across the text, and I went rigid.

The paper was crammed with a detailed ledger of Cody’s countless crimes within the werewolves—how he’d hoarded riches, squeezed the people dry without mercy, and even forged shadowy alliances with the wizards. Worse still, itid bare the staggering truth that he had been the puppet master stoking the chaos during the wizards’ infiltration of the pce years ago!

I whispered, barely believing my own words, “Cody… he’s been a traitor to the werewolves this whole time!”

My fingers flipped through the stack of letters, each one peeling back anotheryer of his treachery. Sent to Marehelm to defend the border against the wizards, he’d yed the part of a loyal soldier, while secretly feeding them vital intelligence on the werewolves. His so-called “military achievements” were a sham, built on the backs of defenseless prey or minor half-breeds.

With a surge of rage, I hurled the letters onto the table, my fury zing uncontrobly, a wildfire tearing through my chest.

    Makenna’s POV:

I knitted my brows, a storm of bewilderment and disquiet churning within me.

Cody, a towering figure among the werewolves, wielded unmatched influence—why would he risk such a foolhardy move? He already sat atop the pack’s hierarchy. What shadowy desires or unspoken ambitions could possibly spur him to turn traitor against his own kind?

Dominic’s lips curled with a trace of mockery. Without a word, he slipped a letter into my hands with deft precision.

I seized it instinctively, my eyes racing across the page with hungry urgency. As the words unveiled their meaning, a wave of shock crashed over me, nearly loosening my grip on the parchment. In bold strokes, Cody hadid bare his hunger to seize the throne, penning his treachery in the missive to the Wizard n’s royalty.

“Cody, that vile turncoat!” The cry tore from my throat, raw and unbridled, as fury surged like wildfire through my veins.

yton’s face hardened into a mask of grim resolve, his usually warm gaze now shrouded in shadow.

He clenched his jaw and growled, “No wonder the werewolf n has been withering these past years. It’s Cody—meddling in the dark, that wretched cur! He deserves a reckoning harsh enough to quench my rage!”

I drew a steadying breath, wrestling my emotions into submission, and dered with steely resolve, “We’ve got irond proof now. We can’t dawdle—we must arrest Cody before he catches wind of us, or we’ll risk disaster.”
