Chapter 966

    ?Chapter 966:

I gave a couple of light coughs and pretended to bepletely calm, saying, “N-nothing’s wrong. I’m just feeling a bit hot in here.” After saying that, I even raised my hand and fanned myself dramatically for effect.

Jett was about to ask more probing questions. Afraid that he would keep pressing on, I quickly changed the subject. “We’d better hurry to the dining hall now. Let’s not keep Dayton and Maia waiting for too long.”

A trace of suspicion shed across Jett’s perceptive eyes, but he didn’t ask any further questions. Instead, he just gave me a meaningful look that said he wasn’t entirely convinced.

Subconsciously, I tightened my cor to ensure everything was covered and followed him to the dining hall.

When we entered the dining hall, Dayton and Maia had already been waiting there patiently for quite a while. Dayton weed us with a gesture to sit down, and I apologized sincerely, “I’m sorry for keeping you waiting, Mr. Pierce and Mrs. Pierce.”

Dayton wore an amiable smile and waved his hand, gesturing warmly. “You’re wee. Please have a seat.”

After settling into my chair, I took a delicate sip of coffee. Then, posing my features into a serious expression, I said, “Mr. Pierce, Mrs. Pierce, yesterday we talked to the three princes and assisted in the investigation. Though the situation remainsplex, we can confirm that Alden was unjustly framed by Evelyn. The princes have been reasonable in their approach, and Alden remains safe.”

Hearing this reassurance, the tension visibly melted from Dayton’s and Maia’s faces.

Dayton exhaled with palpable relief. “That’s wonderful news. Alden is an honest and upstanding young man. We have always trusted that he wouldn’t engage in any dishonorable actions.”

His expression then shifted to one of grave concern as Dayton inquired cautiously, “So, did Cody trulymit acts such as coborating with the wizards and betraying the werewolves?”

    ???????????? ???????? ?????? ???????? ????????????????: g???????ν????????????

I shook my head deliberately and responded, “It remains unclear at present. Evelyn’s insight on this particr matter is unfortunately limited.”

A shadow of disappointment flickered across Dayton’s eyes, and he released a soft, weary sigh.

I steered the conversation with renewed confidence. “However, we’ve secured Evelyn’s cooperation. She’s actively investigating Cody’s potential ties to the Wizard n, and we anticipate developments soon.” Upon hearing this promising update, Dayton and Maia exchanged nces, their expressions brightening with newfound hope.

Just then, Maia’s gaze fixed intently on my neck, her brow furrowing with curiosity. “Ailyn, what’s happened to your neck?”

    Makenna’s POV:

The atmosphere in the dining room immediately tensed at Maia’s words.

Dayton and Jett’s gazes immediately shifted to my neck. Uneasy, I raised my hand and covered it, my mind racing to find a way to diffuse the awkward situation.

Dayton smiled teasingly at Jett and me. “It seems you both have a really strong bond,” he said with a yful tone.

Maia’s gaze remained on me. Chuckling lightly, she remarked, “It seems arranging two separate rooms was an oversight on my part. You two make a lovely couple. Sharing a room would be the best option.” With that, Maia turned to the servant beside her and instructed them to rearrange the rooms.

“No, that won’t be necessary, Mrs. Pierce,” I quickly interjected. “Two rooms are perfectly fine.”

By now, my cheeks were flushed with embarrassment, and I couldn’t bring myself to meet Jett’s gaze.
