?Chapter 941:
Seeing tensions rise, I stepped forward with a measured smile and addressed Evelyn directly. “Miss, we’re asking the crowd to disperse for your own privacy. Consider for a moment—do you truly want all these strangers witnessing you in this state?”
Evelyn paused, momentarily caught off guard. Following my meaningful nce, she looked down at herself.
She wore a flimsy dress, one strap hanging loosely off her shoulder, leaving her partially exposed. The thin fabric revealed the silhouette beneath.
The men in the crowd watched her with hungry eyes, their gazes traveling over her body with predatory interest. Some made no effort to hide their inappropriate fascination, swallowing visibly as they stared.
“Ah!” Evelyn cried out sharply, quickly crossing her arms over her chest. Her voice broke with humiliation as she shouted, “You disgusting men! Stop staring at me! Close your eyes immediately!”
Makenna’s POV:
The group of men shifted ufortably, their gazes dropping to the floor as a subtle tension tightened the air.
“It’s not like looking at you will cost you anything…” someone muttered from the crowd, just loud enough for everyone to hear.
Evelyn’s face flushed a furious red, her chest rising and falling with heavy, angry breaths. She bit down on her lower lip, and the mix of humiliation and resentment in her eyes sparked like flint on stone. I found it mildly amusing, though I kept only a faint smile on my lips. My voice was soft and unassuming as I asked, “Miss, can we disperse these people now?”
Her re at me could have set fire to the whole ce, burning with unspoken rage and reluctance. But after a tense beat, she gave a stiff nod—a begrudging surrender.
I exhaled in quiet relief and signaled to the soldiers. They moved with practiced efficiency, guiding the onlookers away until the tavern was still once more, leaving only a handful of us behind.

Maia opened her mouth to ask Alden what had happened, but the sound of approaching footsteps stole the words from her lips.
“What happened here?” a voice thundered, familiar and edged with authority.
“Your Highnesses! Why are you here?” Evelyn brightened as if she’d spotted a lifeline in a stormy sea.
I frowned slightly and turned, already suspecting what I would see. Sure enough, the three princes strode into the tavern, nked by Cody and Dayton.
Cody was stone-faced as usual. Dayton, on the other hand, looked deep in thought.
Bryan’s sharp gaze swept the room, nding on Evelyn. His voice was measured, concern threading through it. “What happened? Why are you in Marehelm?”
As if on cue, Dominic and yton turned their eyes to me, searching, waiting. I held their gaze for a moment before shaking my head slightly, silently reassuring them that I was fine. But an unsettling feeling began to gnaw at me, a premonition I couldn’t quite shake. The way the princes had treated Evelyn in the pce still lingered in my mind. Now, with this unfolding, how would they react?
A sudden, trembling sob shattered the moment.
Evelyn’s hands flew to her face as she let out a quiet, pitiful whimper, her shoulders quaking in feigned vulnerability. Every movement, every sniffle, was meticulously calcted—designed to wring sympathy from those around her.
Then, as if gathering courage, she lifted her head, her eyes shimmering with tears. She pointed at Alden with a trembling finger, her voice breaking with a dramatic gasp. “Your Highnesses… it was him! He tried to rape me! Luckily, I reacted quickly and ran out in time. Otherwise… otherwise, I…”
