Chapter 901

    ?Chapter 901:

Then, out of nowhere, Alden let out a low, scornful chuckle. “Hah. What is in that forest? Let’s just say it’s something the Lycan royals would rather keep buried. If the truth ever got out, their entire rule would be turned on its head.”

“Enough! Alden, do you have a death wish?” Dayton’s face darkened in an instant, his eyes shing with fury.

The sudden outburst left Alden momentarily stunned. He clenched his jaw, as if biting back the words he wanted to say. Though he fell silent, the fire in his eyes still burned bright with unspoken defiance. Dayton’s face was a storm of unreadable emotions—grim, shadowed, and brooding. He drew in a slow, measured breath, as if forcing himself to let the conversation die. Then, he shifted his focus to Jett and me.

“Rest assured, I will see to your safety.”

“Thank you, Mr. Pierce,” Jett and I said in unison, offering a respectful nod.

Back in my room, I dropped into a chair, my mind spinning with the echoes of Dayton’s and Alden’s reactions. The more I turned their words over in my head, the deeper my unease grew.

That Dayton knew the truth about the werewolf forest wasn’t surprising—after all, he was the one responsible for guarding it so fiercely. But Alden…

Why had he reacted so fiercely at the mere mention of the Lycan royal family?

What kind of secrets were tangled up in all of this?

A weight settled in my chest, a dense fog of uncertainty and unanswered questions.

    Makenna’s POV:

In my room, Jett and I sat across from each other, going over everything that had happened earlier. However, we still ended up as confused as when we had just begun.

Jett rubbed his chin thoughtfully and then said, “I have a gut feeling that Dayton and Alden know the truth. They may even be supporters of the white wolf n.”

    ?????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? g???????ν????????????

Jett then paused, staring at me for a while before continuing, “You should stay here at the Pierce family home and investigate Dayton and the werewolf forest. I’ll head to Cody’s ce and see if I can uncover anything.”

I shook my head instantly and said, “There’s no way I’m letting you go to Cody’s ce alone. He’s a dangerous man, and it’s risky for you to go alone.”

Jett patted my shoulder reassuringly and said, “We need to split up for more efficiency. You’re meticulous, so staying with the Pierce family to investigate would suit you better. Don’t worry. I’ll deal carefully with Cody.”

Jett’s point was valid, so I reluctantly agreed to his n.

The next morning, Jett left for the Harrison family residence while I remained with the Pierce family. After much deliberation, I came to the conclusion that Alden might be the key to a breakthrough, so I decided to go to him and see what information I could squeeze out of him.

Alden’s face lit up immediately when he saw me.

“Ailyn, what are you doing here? Are you finally here to ditch your husband and be with me?” he said teasingly.

I chuckled lightly and then yfully knocked him on the head. “Stop daydreaming about things that would never happen.”

Alden appeared to pout and then said, “Alright, alright, I get it.”

With a smile on my face, I casually said, “I’ve been in Marehelm for a while now, but I haven’t had a proper look around. You know this ce like the back of your hand. Could you show me around?” The truth was that I had an ulterior motive. Asking him to take me on a tour was only a means to an end to get Alden to lower his guard.
