Chapter 890:
“Okay,” Dominic nodded gently, agreeing to my request.
Heart drumming against my ribs, I slipped into the mayor’s estate like a ghost. As I navigated through the moonlit garden, a hand shot out from the darkness, seizing my arm and yanking me behind the protective shadow of an ancient tree before I could even gasp.
I looked up into Alden’s bloodshot eyes, wild with emotion.
“Alden, what are you doing?” I whispered, confusion washing over me in waves.
His head dropped in abject misery, shoulders quivering like autumn leaves in a storm, his voice thick with self-reproach. “I’m sorry. I failed to protect you.”
I was dumbfounded.
Before I could gather my wits, Alden’s jaw clenched tight, his question cutting through the night air. “Did that Prince Dominic do something to you? That bastard! The Lycan royal family is indeed full of bastards!”
Full of bastards?
My heart plummeted like a stone in a well, a cold premonition seeping into my bones. His words carried the weight of hidden history, of secrets lurking beneath the surface.
Just as questions formed on my lips, Alden raised his gaze to mine, his eyes burning with the intensity of ancient fires. “No matter what Dominic did to you, I’ll avenge you!”
Fury zed in his eyes, a raging inferno ready to consume everything in its path—including Dominic.
I stood frozen in ce, my mind wiped nk like an erased canvas.
How could I possibly untangle this web of misunderstandings for Alden? The truth was tooplex, too dangerous.
My heart thrashed against its cage, caught in a storm of conflicting emotions—anxiety and uncertainty battling for dominance.
???????? ???????? ????????: ?????????ν????????????
“What are you two doing?!”
The thunderous voice cleaved through my indecision like lightning splitting the night sky, jolting me back to reality.
Before I could react, Alden was suddenly pushed aside with impressive force, and in a heartbeat, I found myself pulled into a warm, familiar embrace that wrapped around me like a protective shield.
ncing up in surprise, my eyes met Jett’s zing gaze.
His face was a thundercloud, eyes shing with barely contained fury as he red at Alden. The intensity in his stare suggested he was contemting precisely how many pieces to break Alden into.
Under Jett’s scorching re, Alden’s righteous demeanor crumbled instantly. His expression shifted, nervousness flickering across his features like shadows from a guttering candle.
Watching them, I couldn’t suppress a bubble of amusement rising within me. How ridiculous that I’d somehow stumbled into this cliché—caught between two men like some damsel in a romance novel. The absurdity of my situation left me feeling utterly helpless.
Sensing the dangerous tension thickening the air, I quickly tugged at Jett’s sleeve, my fingers pressing urgently against the fabric.
“Alden was just talking to me, nothing more. It’ste. I’m tired; let’s go back. I want to rest.”
Jett’s mouth parted, clearly ready to unleash a torrent of angry words that hovered on his lips.
