?Chapter 878:
Led by an eager Alden, I followed the group to the dining room with great reluctance.
Makenna’s POV:
I entered the dining room and immediately sensed something was off.
Jett silently took a seat next to me, and just as I was starting to rx, Alden strutted up and sat on my other side.
Alden beamed at Jett as he sat down. “Mr. Burton, you don’t mind if I sit here, right?”
Jett’s expression quickly soured, his forced smile not reaching his eyes. “You seem very fond of my wife. Perhaps you think of her as a sister?”
Alden replied briskly, “Yes.”
That simple word ignited a change in Jett’s demeanor. He looked like he’d been sshed with cold water.
Maia picked up on the growing tension and tried to diffuse it with a smile. She instructed the butler, “Serve the dishes.”
Quickly, the servantsid out a variety of exquisite dishes on the table, each beautifully arranged on delicate porcin, tempting to all the senses.
However, my appetite had vanished. I only wanted to nibble a bit and escape the ufortable atmosphere as quickly as possible.
Just as I reached for my utensils to eat, a familiar voice suddenly broke the silence.
“Mrs. Burton, your manner of handling your utensils reminds me of my mate.”
I stopped mid-motion. My heart skipped a beat, and I looked up to find Dominic staring at me, amusement twinkling in his eyes. Whenever he shed that smile, I felt shivers run down my spine, hinting that trouble wasn’t far behind.
Suppressing my anxiety, I kept myposure and mustered a polite smile. “How interesting. I wasn’t aware you had a mate, Your Highness. Why didn’t you bring her along?”

As I spoke, my hands grew mmy, and a shiver coursed through me. I silently hoped to quickly move past this moment.
Right after I finished speaking, the room seemed to cool down further, and the air felt unbearably heavy.
The faces of the three princes darkened simultaneously.
Bryan’s gaze was intense as he fixed his eyes on me, as though trying to unravel my disguise. “From the moment I first saw you yesterday, you reminded me of someone. Are you sure you aren’t her?”
My gaze moved over each of them, noting the anguish in their eyes. This stirred a twinge of sorrow within me.
shes of the past flooded my thoughts.
I bit down hard on the tip of my tongue to keep myself sharp and focused. There were still tasks toplete, and I couldn’t let emotions get in the way.
“Do I truly resemble the person you’re talking about?”
I took a deep breath, mustered a smile, exhaled slowly with a theatrical sigh, and gently touched my cheek. “I often hear that I look like someone.”
With that, I quickly grabbed Jett’s hand and said tenderly, “Right, darling?”
Jett caught on immediately. He squeezed my hand firmly, his face beaming with joy as he yed his part.
“Yes, darling. But to me, you’re very unique, beyondparison to anyone else.”
