Chapter 841

    ?Chapter 841:

    Makenna’s POV:

    “Someone broke in?”

I blinked in shock, the words stirring a mix of curiosity and dread. I wanted to press for more details, but a group of customers nearby interrupted, their loud demands for more dishes stealing the waiter’s attention.

The waiter hurriedly moved to assist, but before disappearing into the crowd, he nced back at me with a sly wink and whispered, “Miss, if you want to know more,e find me.”

As he left, Jett let out a quiet sigh, his brow furrowed with concern. “It looks like entering the infamous and dangerous werewolf forest just got even harder.”

I exhaled sharply, massaging my temples as frustration swelled. “I should have expected it wouldn’t be simple, but if someone already managed to force their way in, security must be even tighter now.” Defeated, I dropped into my chair.

Sensing my mood, Jett gave my shoulder a reassuring pat. “Let’s eat first, get some energy. Afterward, we’ll wander the city. Who knows? We might uncover something helpful.”

I nodded absently, picking at my food and forcing it down, though every bite felt tasteless, my mind too consumed by worry to savor it. Once our meal was over, we stepped into the lively streets of Marehelm, blending into the vibrant chaos that surrounded us.

The air buzzed with energy—the boisterous calls of street vendors, the rhythmic tter of horse-drawn carriages, and the lively chatter of the crowd wove together to create a tapestry of sound and motion.

We strolled along the bustling roads, ears tuned to the snippets of conversation swirling around us, hoping to catch even the smallest hint of valuable information.

It wasn’t long before we pieced together a picture of the city’s current state.

    ?????????????????? ???????? ???? ???????? g???????ν??????????????

As the waiter had hinted, the real issue was Cody. His influence stretched far and wide, almost overshadowing the mayor’s authority in Marehelm.

The mere thought of Antoni’s connection to Cody sent a chill through me.

If Antoni discovered I was here, it would be like stepping straight into the jaws of the lion.

After turning the situation over in my mind, I concluded that a disguise potion was the safest bet.

Just as I was about to share my n, Jett seemed to read my thoughts. He sighed, a note of resignation in his voice. “Making a disguise potion isn’t thatplicated. The problem is one of the ingredients—it’s incredibly rare and ridiculously expensive. Last time, I had to swindle Molly to get my hands on it.”

His words dampened my spirits, and I let out a helpless sigh. My gaze wandered over the bustling streets until an idea sparked. “There’s a forest nearby. It might have rare herbs hidden in it. Or, we could check the herbal shops. We might be able to buy what we need.”

Jett’s eyes lit up with renewed hope. “Good idea! Let’s try that.” Without wasting time, we asked for directions and headed toward the nearest herbal shop.

But before we got far, a suddenmotion broke out ahead. Arge group of soldiers marched heavily down the street.

Clutched in their hands were freshly printed wanted posters, which they stered onto walls and poles as they went.

“Attention, everyone!” one of the soldiers bellowed. “If you spot the two criminals on these posters, report immediately! The reward is ten thousand gold coins!”

Jett and I froze, exchanging a startled nce. Despite the rising tension, curiosity gnawed at us, and we couldn’t resist edging closer. As we neared, the images on the posters came into view. It was us.
