?Chapter 778:
If I told Makenna the truth, would it make her waver in her resolve for revenge?
I steeled myself, making up my mind. “Don’t tell her.”
As soon as the words left my lips, I felt an odd sensation ripple through me. A groan escaped me as my legs suddenly gave way, and I copsed onto the sofa, feeling weak.
Rosaline rushed to me, worry etched on her face. “What’s happening? Are you okay?”
I shook my head, trying to gather myself. “I don’t know. Ever since I touched Makenna, I’ve felt this strange heat coursing through me…”
This… this strange sensation was exactly like that night in the warehouse—the same heat, the same intensity, like a me burning just beneath my skin.
Makenna’s POV:
I stumbled out of the courtyard, weighed down by a sorrow too heavy to bear. The wind howled around me, taunting my disheveled state, as if nature itself was mocking my misery.
Why did things have to go this way? Why did fate insist on throwing the knife, never letting me catch a break?
It felt like a boulder was sitting on my chest, making it impossible to breathe, the weight of it suffocating me with each desperate breath.
My only thought was to get away—to escape the crushing pain that gnawed at my insides. I didn’t even see someone standing in front of me until we collided, too lost in my own turmoil.
“Ouch…” I winced, looking up through blurry eyes, and there he was—Bryan.
His eyes, dark and full of concern, locked onto mine. He reached out, steadying me, his voice full of worry. “Are you okay? Why are you running like that?”
The second I saw him, Jett’s words hit me like a p in the face, and all the grief that had weighed me down turned into something sharper—anger. My blood boiled, my face twisted in fury, and I shoved him away with everything I had. “Get away from me! I hate you! Just stay away!”

Bryan stumbled back, his face a mix of confusion and hurt, but before I could turn away, he grabbed my wrist, his grip strong but gentle. “What’s going on? What happened?” His voice wasced with concern.
Tears streamed down my face as I red at him, the anger spilling over in torrents. “Why are you doing this to me? Why can’t you just leave me alone? Why do you keep pushing me like this?”
The pain in my chest made it hard to breathe, and I sobbed uncontrobly, as if the world itself was crumbling around me. Without warning, Bryan scooped me up into his arms, lifting me effortlessly.
“Let me go!” I shrieked, panic gripping me. My hands flew around his neck, trying to push him away.
Ignoring my protests, he continued forward, his steps unyielding. “Where are you taking me?” I pounded his chest, my heart racing in fear. “Let me go!”
Bryan nced down at me, his face resigned yet calm. “I’m just taking you somewhere to calm down.”
Despite my cries and struggles, he carried me all the way to his vi. As soon as we crossed the threshold, he called for the servants, instructing, “Get some coffee and prepare something to eat.”
“Let me go! I don’t want anything!” I shouted, twisting and wriggling, but it was no use. Bryan’s strength was like iron, and he gently but firmly lowered me onto the plush sofa in the living room.
