    “Check the video at four minutes and thirty-two seconds. Look at the shadow next to Ellie. It’s definitely not Edwin or Omiros; they aren’t that tall. And it’s not Freddy either, since Freddy has curly hair. So who could it be?”


    Ellie had a dream while she slept.


    She envisioned herself back at the award ceremony. Her vision had cleared, and she recognized that the man holding her was Kaiden.


    This image reyed in her thoughts over and over, haunting her.


    When Ellie woke up, she was unsure why this dream hade to her.


    Unable to go back to sleep, she got up, opened her bedroom door, and walked out.

    “I woke up for some water,” Ellie replied, looking puzzled. “Why aren’t you sleeping, Kaiden?”

    It was a mix of oranges, roses, nutmeg, and sandalwood.


    Edwin’s perfume had this fragrance, and it had lingered on her dress when she returned.


    Ellie wondered why her cook had this scent.


    “I stay upte.”


    Kaiden made a casual excuse and handed Ellie a ss of warm water. Ellie took the ss and drank it. Kaiden stood beside her, and the scent of the perfume grew stronger. Ellie was certain she hadn’t imagined it.


    For a second, she thought about asking him why he had that fragrance.
