Chapter 1076

    ?Chapter 1076:

“Everything is going smoothly.” Kaiden adjusted his walking pace and approached Ellie, speaking in a notably soft tone. “Mrs. Thorpe, what would you like to eat tonight?”

When Ellie heard “Mrs. Thorpe,” she was momentarily taken aback. She automatically thought of Kaiden.

Ellie furrowed her brows in confusion. Ayden’s voice sounded different from Kaiden’s, but for some reason, he always reminded her of Kaiden.

“Let’s go with some spicy beef slices, braised chicken, and a stir-fried mixed vegetable dish. And for the soup…” Ellie paused for a moment. “Chicken soup.” Her bangs were a bit tousled.

Kaiden automatically reached out to fix her hair. His hand was already brushing her soft strands when he suddenly recalled he was supposed to be acting as a cook. This move was quite inappropriate.

Ellie was a little taken aback and nced up at him.

“There was something stuck in your hair,” Kaiden said casually.

    “Oh, alright.”

Ellie then nonchntly brushed her hair.

June and May let out a breath of relief. Kaiden had nearly given himself away.

Ellie felt a bit ufortable, sensing that the mood was odd. Then she recalled Ayden’sment about not liking women, and she quickly reassured herself that she was reading too much into it.

He might see her as… a female friend?

Kaiden knew he wasn’t a great cook, but he was confident about making chicken soup. He had been practicing it for days. Ellie had a habit of having soup before her meals.

Kaiden dished out half a bowl of soup for her along with a tender piece of chicken leg.

“Watch out, ma’am. The chicken soup is hot,” May said, standing nearby and ying the role of a helpful assistant.

Ellie thanked May and bent her head to sip the soup with a spoon.

The clear soup shimmered on her lips, making Kaiden’s gaze heat up. His throat bobbed reflexively. He felt like kissing her. It had been ages since he had kissed her, and he started to yearn for the feel of her lips.

June caught sight of Kaiden’s expression and was stunned. His gaze was so intense that it appeared as if he wanted to devour Ellie. Luckily, Ellie was too absorbed in drinking her soup to notice. She took a couple of sips and made a small grimace.

“Is something wrong? Is the soup not to your liking?” Kaiden asked.

Ellie shook her head. “It’s really good.”

When Kaiden heard this, he couldn’t help but grin, like a child who’d just received apliment.

May and June watched in silence, unable to say a word.

Ellie was confused. Why did this chicken soup taste so much like the one Kaiden had brought her before? Even though the chicken was perfectly cooked and the vor was richer, it tasted like it came from the same cook.

As Ellie was finishing her meal, she got a call from the “Peerless Grace” team. They invited her to the awards ceremony because the costumes had won a major award.

“Charlie, you’re the one in charge. You should be the one getting the award,” Ellie said, knowing her ce as second inmand.
