?Chapter 1037:
In some families, they might prioritize saving the child at the expense of the mother. In that sense, Kaiden could be seen as a good husband!
“I understand, I’m not ming him,” Ellie said, looking down. “I just… can’t wrap my head around it.”
Because there were only two resolutions to this issue: Either she gave in, or he did. Currently, she had pushed him intopromising.
She harbored some guilt towards Kaiden.
“If you’re having trouble figuring it out, then simply let go of the issue!” Baylee reassured Ellie with a pat on the shoulder.
Ellie turned to her friend with a dumbfounded expression.
Baylee quickly rified, “What’s with that expression? You’re pregnant. Why stress yourself out over something for which you couldn’t find another solution? What more can you do?”
Ellie sighed. “You usually take a proactive approach when dealing with an issue, so it surprises me that you’re advising me to let this one go.”
After a moment of contemtion, Baylee said, “Being pregnant means you shouldn’t involve yourself in negative thoughts.” Ellie seemed to grasp her point.
They decided to leave the topic there.
In the afternoon, Harry visited Ellie, bringing a spread of snacks like pizza, fried chicken, chips, and milkshakes ordered by Baylee and Ellie.
“Mrs. Thorpe, I’ve got the results on the matter you asked me to look into,” Harry said. Even though there were no servants present, he still spoke in a hushed tone. “Before Carole’s eye issue, there was a strange smell in her room. The doctors and nurses couldn’t find the source of the scent and didn’t pay much attention. During that time, no one visited Carole, so I investigated those who had ess to her. There was a temporary worker who cleaned Carole’s room every time she was at the mental hospital.”
Usually, temporary workers were assigned randomly, so having the same person consistently in one area was unusual.
“What’s the worker’s name?” Ellie inquired.

“rinda.”
Ellie’s mind instantly linked rinda to the heavily scented parenting book Flossie had mentioned. That book had been returned to her by rinda!
Ellie and rinda had no issues. They even got along quite well, so why would she do this?
“Where is rinda now?” Baylee inquired, her voice suddenly turning icy.
“She was sent on a business trip to Estoqua,” Harry replied. “Should I reach out to Mr. Barton to apprehend her?”
Ellie shook her head. “She doesn’t know I’ve discovered her. Upon her return, bring her to me. Try to gather evidence linking her to the scent.”
Harry nodded. “Got it.”
With that, he departed, and soon after, the sound of a car engine roared.
“Your husband’s back,” Baylee said, tugging at Ellie’s sleeve. She was reminding Ellie to soften her attitude towards Kaiden.
After mentally preparing herself, Ellie was about to greet Kaiden when he spoke first.
“Ellie, the doctor said you should cut back on the milkshakes.”
Ellie, who was holding a milkshake, was at a loss for words. Baylee, also with a milkshake in hand, sheepishly set her cup down.
