    The next day, the cook prepared boiled shrimp.


    Kaiden started peeling shrimp for Ellie.


    Ellie watched him with confusion. “Hey, you’ve peeled quite a lot of shrimp.”


    Kaiden finished peeling a shrimp and added it to the growing pile on the te. Ellie hesitated for a few seconds before asking, “Kaiden, aren’t you going to work today?”


    “I’ve been working extra hours, so I’m taking a break today.” Kaiden had shifted to rxation mode again.


    Ellie, half-joking, said, “Kaiden, you’re making me suspect you’ve done something wrong.”


    “Why do you think that?” Kaiden asked casually.


    “Peeling fish bones and shrimp for me without any reason. It’s suspicious.”


    Heughed in exasperation and flicked her forehead. “Come on, can’t I spoil my wife?”


    She looked at him and ate the shrimp without saying anything.


    Kaiden took Ellie for another eye checkup, but again, there were no issues.


    He reviewed the report and narrowed his eyes with concern.


    Ellie had epted the results. She’d had three tests with the same oue.


    The onlyfort was that her eye problems hadn’t affected the baby’s growth.


    For Ellie, the baby’s health was the top priority at this moment.


    Ellie yawned.


    “Sleepy?” Kaiden asked, holding her waist.


    She nodded.


    “Let’s go back then.” He touched her head and reassured her, “Don’t worry about your eyes. I’ll handle it.”


    Ellie fell asleep against Kaiden as soon as they got in the car and was still asleep when they arrived at the main building.


    Kaiden carefully carried her out of the car and into the house. On the way to their room, she woke up in his arms.

    Now that the baby could hear, they avoided discussing anything inappropriate during the pregnancy.


    “Would you like to continue sleeping?” Kaiden softly inquired.


    “Yeah…”


    Her eyes shut once more.


    Pregnancy often makes women feel drowsy, a fact especially evident with Ellie. Kaidenid her down on the bed, tucked her in, and nted a kiss between her eyebrows.


    At that moment, Ellie drifted back to sleep.
