Chapter 987

    ?Chapter 987:

Marviny on the sofa where Baylee had been, still catching a faint whiff of her scent. The quiet was broken by a ringing phone.

Shelton’s voice came through loudly and angrily. “Marvin, you want to take my ce, yet you dare to skip today’s family dinner?”

At the Hill family gathering earlier, Marvin had followed Baylee outside, leaving everyone else behind.

Marvin’s gentle expression turned cold in an instant. He hadn’t settled the score with them yet.

“You and Quincy knew Baylee would visit our house,” Marvin asserted firmly.

“Marvin, is this how you speak to your grandfather? You dare question me over a woman?” Shelton scolded. “I said those things for your own good. Marrying a suitable socialite would secure your inheritance in the Hill family. Do you really believe your im to the Hill family fortune is guaranteed?”

    Marvin brushed off Shelton’s nonsense.

“Are there any other grandchildren who might stand in my way?” he asked pointedly.

By emphasizing “grandchildren,” Marvin clearly meant Quincy.

While others called Marvin cold and domineering, he always thought he treated the Hills quite well. It was this perceived kindness that led Shelton to believe he could still manipte and intimidate Marvin.

Being slightly tipsy was ideal for drifting off to sleep. Arguing with Marvin in the living room might have helped Baylee feel better. After returning to her bedroom, she fell asleep right away.

When she woke up, it was nearly noon. Having experienced her family’s copse and her first love’s betrayal, Baylee was now unaffected by pressure and emotional upheavals. She got dressed and left the bedroom calmly.

She had expected to encounter Marvin’s irritating face again, but instead, the sofa was empty. Even the nket she had used was missing.

Thinking back to Marvin’s history of taking her underwear, Baylee’s expression darkened.

On the dining table sat the breakfast Marvin had prepared for her. He was skilled in the kitchen. Since they began dating, he often cooked for her whenever he could.

Feeling down, Baylee didn’t want to stay home but held back from seeking out Ellie as she didn’t want to burden her with negative feelings. She decided to unwind at an art exhibition andter headed to Rich Bar in the evening.

Amidst the pulsing lights and booming music, the bar’s thumping beat was perfect for rxation. In such a lively atmosphere, there was no room to dwell on troubling thoughts. Baylee sat at the bar, her mind empty, anticipating Harry’s creation of a ‘Devil’s Graveyard’ for her.

The Devil’s Graveyard was a popr cocktail, blending tequ, ck rum, Scotch whisky, American bourbon, and almond brandy.

With a name as dark as its high alcohol content, the Devil’s Graveyard was Baylee’s go-to drink when she was feeling down.

Harry ced the drink in front of Baylee and slid it over to her. Suddenly, a hand reached out from beside her and snatched the ss. In the next instant, Baylee’s face was sshed with the cold drink, and the smell of alcohol filled the air.

Baylee shut her eyes tightly, waiting for the liquid to drip away.

“Baylee, what did you whisper to Marvin during your pillow talk? Why are you so cheap? Your family went bankrupt, and you can’t bear to see others happy?” a furious voice demanded.
