Chapter 968

    ?Chapter 968:

Was Carole’s suffering partially their fault, hers and Kaiden’s?

    No.

Then who had the authority to demand they do anything for Carole?

    No one.

Ellie never imagined there woulde a day when she wouldn’t feel like speaking in front of Brisa. Perhaps because she had admired and liked Brisa so much in the past, she now felt deeply disappointed.

Caroley in bed, her eyes vacant. It wasn’t until Kaiden had stood by her for a while that she focused her gaze on him. After a moment, she seemed to recognize him.

    “Leo!”

Carole suddenly sat up abruptly and threw herself at Kaiden.

Kaiden was taken aback when Carole called him Leo, and he stood frozen in shock. Carole gripped Kaiden’s waist tightly, burying her face in his chest as she cried out, “Leo!”

Whenever Carole called Leo’s name, it always brought Leo great joy.

“I’m not Leo, Carole,” Kaiden said.

Carole held onto Kaiden so tightly that he had to forcefully pry her arms away. Carole’s hand, previously connected to an IV drip, swelled due to the sudden movement. She appeared oblivious to the pain, gazing at Kaiden with innocence and dependence.

“If even you don’t want me, Leo, what’s the point of me being alive?”

Carole started crying and grabbed the fruit knife from the bedside, attempting to stab herself. Kaiden was shocked and intervened immediately.

The sharp knife sliced his forearm, causing a cut that bled profusely.

Ellie had been standing outside with a grim expression. When she saw what was happening, she rushed in.

    “Kaiden!”

Ellie moved as fast as she could despite her pregnant belly. Kaiden, concerned she might stumble, moved to assist.

    “Slow down. Be careful.”

Medical gauze was nearby. Ellie swiftly used it to wrap Kaiden’s wound. The sight of Kaiden’s bleeding angered Ellie. She red sharply at the woman in the bed.

Carole sat at the head of the bed, clutching her knees, trembling, and eyeing Ellie cautiously.

Ellie’s tone was cold as she asked, “Are you scared of me now? Weren’t you scared when you were hugging my man just now?”

“Who are you?” Carole questioned Ellie, puzzled. Then she turned to Kaiden with a sad expression. “Leo, do you like someone else?”

Ellie’s anger was instantly reced by shock.

    “Leo?”

But he had already passed away.

The cut on Kaiden’s arm wasn’t deep enough to require stitches. The doctor quickly bandaged it.

Ellie sat beside Kaiden with an icy expression. Known for her cold demeanor, Ellie was so frosty that even Brisa hesitated to speak with her. Brisa opted to enter the ward to keep Carolepany instead.
