    Ellie was taken aback and cast a disgusted nce at her.


    “I’m not your mother. Why should I care how difficult it is for you?” Ellie’s tone was chilly. “Please step aside.”


    “Kaiden, I was coerced. It’s true. They threatened me,” Carole pleaded, pinning her hopes on Kaiden. “I don’t want my life ruined, I don’t want…”


    Thosepromising photos were Carole’s Achilles’ heel.


    “Carole, adults must take responsibility for their actions and decisions,” Kaiden stated.


    Since Carole had been coerced, why hadn’t she asked Kaiden for help initially? She said this aftering home because she hoped to gain favor from Talon and wanted Kaiden’s protection too.

    Without hesitation, Ellie and Kaiden departed. Carole had lost herst hope. The malice in Erick’s eyes made Carole flee to her room immediately.


    To her surprise, the locked door was opened from outside with a spare key. With a grimace, Erick burst in, seized Carole’s hair, and mmed her head against the table. Heshed out at her, releasing his anger.


    “Ah!” Carole cried out in agony.


    “You bitch, how dare you rat me out! How dare you betray me! You bitch!” He yelled as he punched and kicked Carole.


    “You’re hitting me because you feel guilty, Erick! I’ll tell your mother!” Carole shrieked.


    She winced from the pain coursing through her body. Unable to evade it, she resorted to threatening him.


    “Who saw me hitting you? Huh? It’s not my concern that you had an affair with the chef and he beat you,” Erick chuckled as he continued to beat her.


    He had already made up a story about what had happened to Carole. As there were no witnesses to his actions, he could escape the consequences.
