Chapter 958

    ?Chapter 958:

Changing the topic, Ellie asked, “Will you be meeting Carole and that woman tomorrow?”

Kaiden nodded. “Do you want to join me?”

“Absolutely!” Ellie agreed, giving his hand a squeeze. “Kaiden, my anger this afternoon wasn’t about you seeing Carole. It was about you keeping me in the dark.”

“I know,” he acknowledged, nting a kiss on her cheek. “It won’t happen again.”

Ellie habitually changed clothes after getting home. As soon as they entered the master bedroom, Kaiden headed straight to the bathroom.

The sound of running water soon filled the air.

Ellie was bewildered. What had gotten into him? Did he really get aroused? The very thought was mind-boggling!

    Ellie couldn’t fathom it.

Half an hourter, Kaiden emerged to find Ellie perched on the sofa, engrossed in something.

“Look!” she eximed, her eyes sparkling as she handed him an examination report.

The report held three ck-and-white ultrasound images of her uterus.

“See? That’s our baby’s head! Isn’t it adorable?” Ellie pointed to a round shape. If she hadn’t mentioned it, Kaiden might not have recognized the head. Yet, as a father-to-be, he had to agree—that circr outline was indeed cute. The report also detailed data on the length of the humerus and the fetal heart rate.

The typicallyposed Kaiden now showed curiosity, studying the ultrasound picture with the intensity of someone reviewing a multimillion-dor contract.

“Looks like a girl,” Kaiden remarked.

Ellie was confused. How could he possibly tell?

“We’ve decided not to find out the gender in advance! Besides, girl or boy, it’s your child. You shouldn’t y favorites,” she gently admonished.

ncing at Ellie’s unmistakably pregnant belly under her pajamas, Kaiden responded firmly, “I won’t.”

After all, boys and girls required different approaches to parenting. A son would be groomed to inherit the family business, potentially allowing Kaiden an early retirement.

Ellie rested a hand on her belly, eyeing him suspiciously. Was it just her imagination, or had there been something odd about the way he said “I won’t”?

The following day, sunlight streamed into the master bedroom through the parted curtains, casting a brilliant golden hue across the wooden floor. Ellie awoke to find Kaiden beside her, hisptop perched on his legs as he pored over financial statements.

“Why aren’t you going to work today?” Ellie queried.

If she hadn’t known about thepany’s thriving stock prices and increasing monthly profits, she might have worried something was amiss.

Kaiden gently touched Ellie’s head, smoothing her hair with a tenderness that softened his typically reserved demeanor.

“Aren’t you joining me today?” he reminded her, his morning voice a rich, soothing timbre.

Only then did Ellie remember the matter with Carole. After changing and heading to the bathroom, Ellie found Kaiden had already squeezed toothpaste onto her brush and handed it to her.

Taking it gracefully, Ellie began her morning routine. She recalled how shocked she’d been when Kaiden first started this gesture. Such actions seemed reserved for characters in romantic novels—not something she’d expected from the formidable Kaiden.
