Chapter 954

    ?Chapter 954:

Ellie had scheduled a prenatal check-up for today. Kaiden had gone with her to the hospital. As they reached the hospital gate, he got a call.

“Is something wrong with thepany?” Ellie inquired, noticing Kaiden’s grim expression.

Kaiden furrowed his brow, seemingly hesitating to answer.

Ellie remarked, “Feel free to handlepany matters first. Even though you’re the boss, no boss should ck off all day!”

Kaiden kissed her forehead and assured her, “Ellie, call me if anythinges up. I’ll wrap it up quickly.”

    “Okay.”

Kaiden gestured, and soon a woman with short hair approached, nodding at him. “Hello, Mrs. Thorpe,” the woman respectfully greeted Ellie.

After Kaiden left, Ellie observed the woman with curiosity and asked, “Are you the new bodyguard Kaiden assigned for me? You weren’t the one with me after we returned from Parasti.”

Since their return from Parasti, Kaiden had arranged two bodyguards for Ellie.

“The previous one was temporary; I’m the permanent one,” the female bodyguard replied with a sincere smile. “Mrs. Thorpe, you can call me Babette.”

As they walked, Ellie inquired with a smile, “Do you have more professional expertise than the previous one?”

“No, I’m pretty much like the previous one,” Babette Greville shook her head. “My advantage is being female.”

Ellie was confused. Babette continued, “Your husband prefers not to have two male bodyguards with you.”

    Ellie was left speechless.

Babette went on, “Mrs. Thorpe, haven’t you noticed the previous two men weren’t exactly easy on the eyes?”

Ellie’s mouth fell open. She was at a loss for words.

It was typical of Kaiden. It didn’t surprise her at all!

The routine pregnancy check was straightforward—no need for a wait at the high-end private hospital. Ellie’s appointment concluded quickly.

She received the report, took a few steps, and then halted.

Demi sat on a corridor bench, her face pale, clutching her belly, looking worn out. When she nced up, she spotted Ellie. Her gaze then settled on Ellie’s belly.

Babette, trailing half a step behind Ellie, was on high alert, watching Demi closely.

    Ignoring Demi, Ellie kept walking.

“Don’t you have a guilty conscience, Ellie?”

Seated on the chair with a bow, Demi looked up at Ellie, her expression filled with resentment from that viewpoint.

“Ellie, even though Houston and Litzy didn’t treat you well, without them, you would have grown up as an orphan in an orphanage! It’s impossible for you to be so sessful today. You wouldn’t have be friends with Baylee. You wouldn’t have married Kaiden. But look at your actions. Litzy died because of you, and our Gordon family fell from grace. Aren’t you worried your child will suffer for your mistakes?”

Initially, Ellie had no intention of responding. However, Demi had brought up her child.
