    “Why didn’t she call me?” Kaiden’s expression turned grim.


    Cayson wondered why Kaiden addressed him with the question rather than directing it to Ellie.


    Two hours passed.


    The car’s headlights illuminated the courtyard. Cayson nced at the motionless Kaiden on the sofa and then opened the door to greet Ellie.


    After exchanging greetings with Cayson, Katharine passed a bunch of shopping bags to him. She didn’t leave until Ellie entered through the door.


    “Mrs. Thorpe, Mr. Thorpe has been waiting for you in the living room for two hours,” Cayson whispered to Ellie.


    Wide-eyed, Ellie hurried into the living room.


    Kaiden sat on the sofa, engrossed in a financial magazine. He didn’t look up until Ellie approached him.


    “Did you have a good time?” he inquired casually.


    For some inexplicable reason, Ellie felt unsettled by his question.


    Cayson set down the shopping bags and departed with the other servants.


    “Are you just sitting here waiting for me toe home?” Ellie asked, hands behind her back and tilting her head.


    Kaiden raised the magazine in his hand, looking incredulous. His expression was as if to say, “Me waiting for you? In your dreams.”


    With her finger pointing at the magazine, Ellie confronted him. “Kaiden, you read this magazinest week!”


    Ellie’s smile grew wider, as if she was certain she had seen through his lies.


    “Kaiden, there’s no shame in waiting for your wife toe home. Why not admit it?” she said.


    With a solemn expression, Kaiden tossed the magazine onto the tea table and grasped her hand, pulling her toward him. Ellie then nestled into his embrace and settled onto hisp. Despite his sudden movements, he made sure to cradle Ellie’s pregnant belly gently with his hand, showing concern for her well-being.

    Just as Ellie was about to speak, his warm lips met hers. Her lips still held a faint smile. The kiss grew more intense over time.


    Kaiden broke the kiss, but even after, their foreheads still touched. The atmosphere turned tender and romantic.


    Breathing slightly faster, Ellie remarked, “If you had admitted you were waiting for me from the start, I would’ve given you a reward!” Kaiden snickered.


    His snicker implied, “If I want a reward, I’ll im it myself!” Indeed, Ellie’s nned reward for him had been a kiss.


    “Why didn’t you tell me you wereing back sote?” Kaiden inquired, holding her close in his arms.


    “I called Cayson,” Ellie said. “Aren’t you supposed to have a meeting tonight? I didn’t want to interrupt your work.” He remained silent.


    “Next time, call me if something like this happens,” Kaiden said.


    “Fine.”


    Ellie then stood up from beside Kaiden and retrieved the shopping bags. Among them were an Ormes crocodile bag, a Dior Diana bag, several outfits, and a pair of t shoes.
