    After a brief pause, Brisa quickly replied, “Of course it’s me.”


    “Alright, I’ll discuss it with Kaiden.”


    After ending the call, Ellie walked into the study. Kaiden was reading a document. Without looking up, he waved at her.


    Ellie assumed he had something important to discuss. As she approached, he pulled her into his arms.


    “I thought you had something serious to say.”


    Her amused expression seemed to say, “I can’t believe you’re being so flirtatious.”


    Kaiden set the document aside and absentmindedly pinched the soft skin at her waist. “This is flirtatious?”


    His hand slipped under her clothes, gently pinching her. “Then what would you call this?”


    “Hey!” Ellie yelped, grabbing his hand.


    Compared to before her pregnancy, Kaiden was much more restrained now. “Kaiden, I’m thinking that… perhaps we should go to the Thorpes’ house tomorrow,” Ellie suggested.


    Kaiden looked at her in silence, waiting for her to exin the reason for her change of heart.


    “Maybe your mother misses you,” she added softly.


    “She doesn’t,” Kaiden replied.


    Ellie wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly.


    “But Kaiden, I don’t want you to have any regrets.”


    Kaiden instinctively wrapped his arms around her waist, savoring the feeling of holding her close. Their bodies pressed together, their souls seemed as if they were connected as closely as their hearts.


    Kaiden spoke softly, “Baby, I won’t have any regrets. If you go back, you’ll run into someone you don’t want to see.”

    Carole was now staying at the Thorpes’ house.


    “But I’d hate to hear anyone say anything bad about you,” Ellie continued, resting her chin on his shoulder. “Honey, you deserve the best of everything.” She didn’t want anyone, especially Brisa and Jorge, to use him of being unfilial.


    If Kaiden didn’t go back, would Brisa and Jorge grumble and me him for not being a good son? Kaiden had been incredibly tolerant with his parents, but Ellie didn’t trust their intentions.


    “Say that again,” Kaiden said, smiling down at her.


    “Say what again?” Ellie asked, puzzled.


    “What did you just call me?”


    Smiling, she tilted her head and teased, “What did I call you? I forgot.” Despite the serious conversation, she couldn’t help but smile at his attention to such small details.


    Kaiden’s warm hand gently touched her skin, his eyes dark and intense as he looked at her in his arms. His fingertips traced along her skin, making her shiver slightly.
