Chapter 918

    ?Chapter 918:

Hearing this, Carole sat on the sofa, her fingers tightly intertwined. She bit her lip, unable to say anything.

Indeed, they had been siblings for over a decade. Despite her humility during those years, she couldn’tpare to someone like Ellie.

Carole harbored deep resentment towards Ellie. If Ellie hadn’t insisted on her staying overseas alone, she wouldn’t have been subjected to sexual assault.

“Fine, go and see Brisa,” Genesis said irritably to Carole. “Remember your mission: please her and speak well of us!”

Upon hearing this, Carole concealed her anger. She rose from her seat and made her way to Brisa’s room.

Just as Jorge exited Brisa’s room, he encountered Carole. He scrutinized her carefully before typing something on his phone.

The elderly butler ryed his words, “Miss Lambert, you don’t meet the weight requirement for bone marrow donation. You need to gain weight by tomorrow.”

With that, they departed without another word.

Carole felt deeply embarrassed upon hearing this. It seemed as if her dignity had been trampled on. To Talon and his family, she was nothing more than a tool, a pawn.

To Jorge, she was nothing more than a means to provide bone marrow.

“Carole!” Brisa was surprised to see her. After undergoing multiple treatments, her hair had thinned considerably, leaving patches of dry, unattractive strands. Her once-beautiful face had grown pale and drawn with illness.

    Carole approached with a smile.

“I was surprised to learn that you’d be my bone marrow match,” Brisa said, holding Carole’s hand with a smile. “Carole, you were supposed to be my daughter-inw, but unfortunately…”

“I still have a chance,” Carole blurted out.

Brisa’s smile froze. She released Carole’s hand.

“Brisa, I was just joking. Did I startle you?” Carole quickly changed the subject upon seeing Brisa’s reaction.

Only then did Brisa’s smile return.

“Carole, you’re a good girl. I once hoped you would be my daughter-inw, but Leo passed away. Now Kaiden and Ellie have developed a close bond. I really like Ellie too.”

Brisa’s words were kind, but Carole sensed a warning not to pursue Kaiden. Yet she had known Kaiden first. She had liked Kaiden first. It was Ellie who had interfered—Ellie who had stolen her happiness and her life.

“I understand, Brisa,” Carole replied with a forced smile.

Returning to the guest room, her smile vanished. She angrily threw all the decorations to the floor. The noise quickly drew Genesis’s attention.

“What are you doing?” Genesis’s face darkened. “You haven’t contributed anything since you returned, yet you’re causing us trouble! Did you even mention the management role to Brisa?”
