    “How dare they inform you beforehand? Didn’t Kaiden try to stop them?” Glenn hissed. “I’ve told you before, Kaiden isn’t good for you. Ellie, I’ll find you a better man.”


    Kaiden had heard that Glenn was at Moon Manor, so he hurried back and arrived just in time to catch that remark, his face immediately darkening.


    The mood was ufortable. Glenn hadn’t expected Kaiden to overhear him speaking poorly about him. But Kaiden was his brother-inw, and he wasn’t scared.


    Glenn stared confidently at Kaiden, but then Ellie rushed over and grabbed Kaiden’s arm. He was at a loss for words when he saw that.


    “Why did youe back all of a sudden?” Ellie asked.


    Kaiden nced at her hand before turning to look at her. His eyes seemed to say, “You’re guilty, huh?”


    “Glenn was just messing around. Don’t take it seriously,” Ellie said, pinching his arm yfully. She then turned to Glenn with a smile and asked, “Isn’t that right?”


    Glenn scoffed, “I was not kidding.”


    Ellie was left without words. Talking to Katharine was always easier; there was no tacit understanding between her and Glenn.


    “Glenn, have a seat! I’ll get Kaiden to fetch something for me!” Ellie said without missing a beat as she pushed Kaiden toward the kitchen. She worried they’d start fighting if she didn’t separate them first.


    Then she shut the kitchen door.


    “Get what?” Kaiden’s face remained nk.


    Feeling awkward, Ellie quickly thought of an excuse and said, “Can you grab me a box of yogurt?”


    Kaiden yed along, acting like he didn’t see through her. He opened the fridge and pulled out a box of peach-vored yogurt.


    Ellie poked the straw into the yogurt and then turned to put the straw into Kaiden’s mouth. Kaiden was a bit surprised.
