Chapter 840

    ?Chapter  840:

Gathering herposure, Ellie attempted to smile as she approached.

    “Mr. Wright.”

“Miss Gordon, I thought you would avoid me,” Kristopher said with a casual, helpless smile.

As Ellie stood a few steps away from him, Kristopher spoke and then took two steps closer to her.

Without even realizing it, Ellie took a step backward.

    In an instant, Kristopher stopped.

The tension in the air became heavy, filled with awkwardness.

    “Mr. Wright, I…” Ellie stammered.

“Have I done something wrong? You seem to be intentionally avoiding me.” Kristopher had sensed this a few days ago.

He had been in touch with Ellie recently, but her responses were polite yet distant.

He made a special effort to be on stage where she could see him. She noticed him clearly, but left right after the show.

The woman he had watched over since her childhood now appeared to be distancing herself, which deeply saddened Kristopher.

Ellie was unsure about Kristopher’s role in her life.

During her childhood, he extended a helping hand but did everything possible to keep her from reuniting with the Lambert family.

He seemed like a maniptor, covertly providing her with intense care.

    It felt unsettling.

“Mr. Wright, how can I help you today? I’m not feeling well and want to rest early.”

Seeing her avoidance, Kristopher cast his gaze downward, concealing the storm brewing within his eyes.

“Nothing. I noticed you weren’t feeling well during the show, so I came to check on you,” ncing at her belly, he asked, “Are you pregnant?” His tone suggested he already knew.

Ellie’s fingers curled as she exerted control over her actions, refraining from shielding her belly with her hand.

After a brief hesitation, she forced a smile and responded, “I’m not sure yet. Perhaps it’s just pure difort.”

Subtly, she indicated she needed to visit the hospital for an examination.

“Rest well if you’re unwell. Goodbye,” Kristopher nodded, masking his true feelings with a smile.

Ellie bid him a polite farewell, but the trust between them had faded, like an old friendship gone cold.

The moment Ellie left, Kristopher’s face clouded over with darkness.

    She was pregnant.

But intentionally, she kept it from him.
