Chapter 674

    ?Chapter 674:

Ellie quickly tried to smooth things over.

She coquettishly held his hand. “Hey, don’t be upset. I still owe him a favor, and since he guessed I’m the ind’s owner, I thought it’d be polite to ask.” She showed Kaiden the message exchange where she had only asked, “Mr. Wright, I heard you’re unwell, do you need any help?”

Kristopher had replied, “No need, thanks.”

It was nd—just a standard, unremarkable conversation.

    Kaiden’s frown slightly eased.

He yfully pinched Ellie’s cheek. “Mrs. Thorpe, keep your distance from other men!”

Ellie mulled over Kristopher’s seemingly polite response, somehow feeling he was in a sour mood.

After some contemtion, she sent a message to Garfield.

Ten minutester, Kristopher received a nourishing soup from Garfield, apanied by a candy ced beside the tray.

“This was ordered by Miss Gordon for you,” Garfield remarked. He was puzzled by the addition of candy himself, as men generally don’t fancy sweets. As he pondered, he observed the typicallyposed and detached Kristopher reach for the candy, his lips curling into a rare smile.

It was as though he had finally received the answer he sought.

Kristopher’s absence wasn’t because of illness; it was his aversion to encountering Katharine, a member of the Lambert family.

    Why, indeed, was she here?

He was intrigued. Was it for Ellie?

Soon, Ellie received a new message from Kristopher: “Candy is for little girls.”

Humph! Ellie mused to herself. Even little girls don’t like candy, especially when they’re scared into thinking the candy might be poisoned.

    ???? ??????? ?? ?????????.???

“Where’s Baylee?” Ellie nced around, only to find Baylee’s spot empty.

“Miss Curtis stepped out momentarily,” a waiter informed her.

Half an hour passed with no sign of Baylee.

As such, Ellie grew concerned and considered sending someone to find her.

Then suddenly, her phone rang. It was Marvin.

“Ellie, where’s Baylee? Is everything alright?”

“Why did you ask that?” Ellie stood up in surprise, startling everyone nearby and drawing all eyes towards her in an instant.

Marvin exined, “The bracelet I gave her has tracking and sensing abilities. She hasn’t gotten up since she fell five minutes ago. I tried calling her, but got no response.”

“Give me the location!” Ellie said urgently.

She quickly called Garfield and started looking for the exact location using the coordinates Marvin had provided.
