?Chapter 663:
That evening, the ind was unusually silent and deste.
After her bath, Ellie reached for her phone, only to have Kaiden snatch it away. “It’s bedtime,” he said, lifting her into their bed.
Ellie quickly caught on and asked, “Is it because people online are talking badly about me? It’s fine, I just want to see.” She was no stranger to rumors and negative talk. Compliments and criticisms, admiration and insults—she had been through it all.
Kaiden gently ran his fingers through her hair, his expression warm and caring. “Mrs. Thorpe, let me take care of this, okay?”
“You think you can fix it? Really?” Ellie asked. Could the issue be resolved without involving her, the protagonist of the controversy?
Kaiden chuckled at her doubt. “Why do you think I can’t handle it, baby?”
Ellie gave a nod and a smile. “Alright.”
Then, Kaiden took Ellie’s phone and left the bedroom.
As soon as the bedroom door shut, his rxed expression turned serious. Ellie’s smile disappeared.
She pulled a tablet from the bedside drawer and began checking the online chatter. She looked unfazed and detached, as if the harsh words online were about someone else.
Solving this problem wouldn’t be easy. After all, the stories about her past with Erick and what Demi had said were well-known among Critport’s high society. Ellie couldn’t imagine what Kaiden’s n was.
Ellie had agreed to let Kaiden handle the matter, so she didn’t pay much attention to what came next. After texting Baylee to let her know she was fine, she returned the tablet to its ce in the bedside table drawer.
Unable to sleep, Ellie decided to take a walk, donning a coat. This ind was her domain, and she felt safe here. Stepping outside, Ellie’s gaze fell upon a figure.
Kristopher, seated in his wheelchair, was staring intently in a specific direction. Following his gaze, Ellie realized he was looking straight at her room’s window, sparking both curiosity and unease within her. Recalling Kaiden’s words, she contemted slipping back inside unnoticed.

“Miss Gordon!” Kristopher called out, halting her retreat.
Ellie approached him, masking her intention to flee with a smile. “Kristopher, what brings you here?” she inquired, her tone light and casual.
“I came to see you,” Kristopher replied.
Ellie was surprised. She immediately understood the reason for his visit. “Mr. Wright, please, don’t worry. I’ve already forgotten about today’s incident. Kaiden will take care of it.”
Kristopher sneered, yet he quickly looked away, concealing the chill in his eyes that the dim light failed to reveal. His smile held an icy edge. “Miss Gordon, it feels like you’re keeping your distance from me,” Kristopher observed softly, looking up. “Is it because of your husband?”
Ellie’s smile wavered. Kaiden was indeed a significant factor.
