Chapter 596

    ?Chapter 596:

Marvin stepped into his slippers and walked a few steps before pausing and looking back. Baylee had just shut the door and was turning around when Marvin trapped her against it. He no longer seemed timid, but rather, he was quite intimidating.

“Baylee, if I find another man trying to take my ce, I’ll make sure he regrets it by breaking his legs!” he said with a surprising gentleness. After saying this, he headed into the kitchen, leaving Baylee to let out a relieved breath a few momentster.

She guessed this was typical behavior for Marvin, feeling as if she was a deer caught in the sights of a wolf, utterly powerless.

“Don’t you ever cook for yourself?” In the fridge, Marvin discovered only a box of eggs, some yogurt, and a few pre-packaged fruit servings. The fruit was already sliced, the yogurt was…

The kind you could drink straight from the container, and the eggs were ready to be cooked without any prep. Everything was set up for ease.

Baylee, having been pampered since she was young, didn’t see the need to cook, even though she had no maid to help her. Nevertheless, her ability to cook was actually quite impressive. The first time Marvin showed up needing care, pretending to be in a weak state, she had cooked soup for him.

She had cooked soup for him four times, each time with a different vor and food ingredients. These four bowls of soup had one thing inmon: they were all so delicious and nutritious that Marvin even doubted whether Baylee was a professional chef. However, once she caught on to him being in better health than he let on, she stopped offering such kindness.

“I have this.” Baylee waved around her packet of instant noodles, unenthusiastic about cooking for herself. She usually got her meals delivered straight from a local chef’s kitchen.

Marvin grabbed the noodles from her and headed back to the kitchen. With skill, he turned on the stove to boil water in a small pot. He partly cooked the noodles, then threw out the greasy water for fresh. He mixed in just a bit of the seasoning, adding his own twist with different spices. It was a healthier twist on instant noodles.

“What type of egg do you want?” he suddenly asked.

Baylee stopped to think. “What kinds are there?” She thought eggs were just eggs.

    “Sunny-side up, soft-boiled, mollet, poached.”

“You can make all those?” Baylee was taken aback. “Could you do a sweet and sour sunny-side up?”

Marvin didn’t answer. Instead, he started on the sweet and sour sauce. He warmed up a pan and cracked an egg into it, filling the kitchen with a sizzling sound.

The smell of the frying egg mixed with the noodles, creating aforting aroma. Baylee found herself lost in the moment, her heart warming at the simple, homely gesture.

Marvin turned off the stove and carefully poured the sweet and sour sauce over the sunny-side-up egg, letting it absorb the vors before removing it from the heat. He then ced the egg on a bed of noodles and carried it to the dining table, all in under ten minutes. Baylee was pleasantly surprised.
