Chapter 566

    ?Chapter 566:

In the shimmering disco lights, his eyes remained lucid and bright, showing no signs of intoxication.

Ellie moved nearer, repeating her caution directly into his ear. “I said, drink less!”

Their whispered interaction elicited amused chuckles from the onlookers, setting the stage for a third round of celebratory toasts.

“Mr. Howell, I think he’s had enough,” Ellie intervened, reaching out to stop Jerome’s attempt to hand over another ss.

“Don’t fret, Ellie. Kaiden’s quite adept when ites to his drinks. I’ve never seen him drunk!”

However, Kaiden’s formidable tolerance was being tested like never before, as he was essentially drinking for two.

“I’ll take it myself, then!” Ellie said, determined to take some burden off him. She reached for a ss, but Kaiden’s hand swiftly intervened, pressing gently against hers. The heat from his palm was noticeably higher than usual, signaling his exertion.

“Ellie, are you sure you want to drink?” Kaiden asked.

Ellie’s previous drunken escapades, though charmingly troublesome, shed before her eyes. Considering Kaiden had already consumed a considerable amount, his ability to manage another inebriated soul was questionable.

She immediately recalled her foolish behavior thest time she had unintentionally be intoxicated. With a moment of hesitation, she withdrew her hand, her resolve wavering.

“Are you sure you can handle more?”

    “Questioning my limits, are we?”

Kaiden’s voice carried a yful edge as he positioned himself closer, his breath tickling her ear.

“Should Mrs. Thorpe need reminding, I’ll be sure to jog your memory once we’re home,” he teased, a hint of mischief in his tone.

Ellie immediately recognized her misstep. Challenging a man’s drinking prowess was hardly wise.

“Levy’s finally back! Did that phone call really take an eternity?” Jerome spotted Levy making his way back, his shirt marred by a wine stain. “What happened to your shirt?”

“Ellie!” Levy greeted her first, exining, “Ran into a bit of an ident. Ady spilled wine on me.”

“Levy!” came a disapproving call from his girlfriend.

So much for “ident.” More like deliberately flirtatious!

Levy offered a gracious smile but chose not to delve into details about the incident.

Momentster, a waiter approached with a delivery.

“Mr. Sanders, ady sent this as an apology for the inconvenience caused earlier.”

Levy’s girlfriend, a socialite whose reputation preceded her, eyed the garment with disdain. “This piece of mediocrity presumes to make amends? Dispose of it!” Hermand was cut short as Levy, prioritizing practicality over pride, epted the shirt and headed to the restroom to change.
