?Chapter 547:
“Where are you off to?” Marvin called out to Baylee, who was on her way out.
Baylee looked back at Marvin with caution. “Mr. Hill, I made myself clear thest time we talked, didn’t I?” She had no intention of marrying him, fearing that the power struggle within the Hill family would put her in danger.
Marvin understood. He would ensure that he took over the Hill family and rid it of those scheming individuals. He nned to aplish that without dy.
Ellie and Baylee met at a renowned, century-old private dining restaurant in Hagua for ate-night snack.
“You really didn’t need to go out of your way to spend your money,” Baylee mentioned, referencing Ellie’s nearlyvish bid at the auction that day.
“I can’t have my dear Baylee treated unfairly, can I?” Ellie nced over at Marvin and Kaiden, who were seated at another table, and whispered to Baylee, “What’s Marvin doing here?”
“He showed up at the auction house looking for Quincy, and now he refuses to leave my side,” Baylee exined. She felt stuck with Marvin. Habits could be destructive. She found it difficult to be too cruel to him.
At the other table, two men were sitting together.
“Big thanks to you for today,” Marvin was saying, referring to the update Kaiden had shared earlier.
Kaiden sat back with his legs crossed, looking utterly bored. He snorted, “Are you serious about going after Baylee? You werete to the auction.”
In Kaiden’s eyes, it was Ellie who did all the work in Marvin’s shoes when Marvin should have been the one to stand up for Baylee against Quincy.
Marvin rushed over as soon as he heard the news, only to be held up by a dyed flight. He was just about to respond when his phone rang.
“Marvin, when did you first meet Baylee?” Quincy’s inquiry came from the other end of the phone.
“That’s not the point.”
They were in an open-air courtyard by the river, and Marvin spoke freely, not worried about Baylee overhearing. “All you need to understand is that Baylee is going to be my wife, thedy of the Hill family. You, being her ex, should keep your distance from your soon-to-be cousin-inw.”
At a five-star hotel:
Right after they walked into their room, Kaiden pinned Ellie against the wall and kissed her.
“Ellie, you seem to treat Baylee a lot better than you do me,” Kaiden said casually as he kissed her. “I’m feeling a bit down. What can you do about it?”
Ellie’s smile was yful as she dodged Kaiden’s kiss to speak more easily. Kaiden leaned closer and sucked on a sensitive spot on her neck.
“Mr. Thorpe, you need to treat me well, and I’ll do the same for you,” she whispered.
“Okay!” Kaiden responded with a light chuckle.
He knew he hadn’t always been kind to her, and he recognized her grievances.
