?Chapter 492:
How could he admit hearing Ellie call Kaiden disgusting?
That would be akin to courting disaster.
Over their months of marriage, Kaiden had grown to understand Ellie’s character.
While she might have a temper asionally, she wasn’t one to insult others without cause.
Had she really thought he was disgusting?
Kaiden was at a loss. He hadn’t been unfaithful, so why would Ellie express such repulsion?
Confused, he pondered over her words.
“Sir, there’s news about your mother.”
Suddenly, Bruce interrupted Kaiden’s thoughts.
He had checked his email and had something to share.
“Your mother didn’t take her medication yesterday. It was found under her pillow, and she confessed to hiding it. Also, your father visited her earlier.”
Kaiden had been investigating Brisa’s recent health decline, suspecting foul y with her medication.
To his surprise, it turned out Brisa had skipped her doses intentionally!
While Kaiden contemted visiting Brisa at the hospital, Jerome’s call came through.
“Kaiden, are you thinking… of divorcing Ellie?” Jerome’s voice was tentative.
But even his careful tone couldn’t soften the blow.
The mere mention of ‘divorce’ set Kaiden on edge, the tension in the car palpable.
“Did Ellie tell you that?” Kaiden’s tone was icy, frustration bubbling within.
Had Ellie decided on a divorce and already informed others?
“Ah? So it’s true?” Jerome, caught off guard, stammered. “I saw the rumors about you and Carole, so I wanted to check…”
“What rumors?” Kaiden’s rm grew.
G a lno ve ls . is where the magic begins
He dreaded these kinds of rumors; they had sparked arguments between him and Ellie before, always revolving around Carole.
“You haven’t heard?” Jerome hesitated for a moment before speaking. “Well… Rumors are swirling that you and Carole are an item. Some even im she’s pregnant with your child. The inte is abuzz. People are saying you’re perfect for each other, and there’s talk in our circles that you might leave Ellie for her. I was almost convinced.”
“I’ve never been involved with Carole! And I have no intentions of remarrying!” Kaiden hissed.
He couldn’t fathom where such ludicrous rumors originated.
“But… you’ve always been so kind to Carole. It’s easy to see how people might get the wrong idea.” Jerome sighed.
“Looking after Carole was my brother’s dying request. Didn’t you know?” Kaiden couldn’t believe Jerome would harbor such thoughts.
Jerome fell silent, processing Kaiden’s words.
They had been friends since childhood, so Jerome was privy to the Thorpe family’s intimate secrets.
