Chapter 468

    ?Chapter 468:

    “Yes.”

“Didn’t I ask you to go home?” Baylee’s tone softened, a habit she’d developed over thest month. “Go home. I’ll be here for a few days.”

“How many days, exactly?” Marvin’s question was pointed.

Baylee’s expression tightened. “Marvin, you can’t keep following me. You have your own path, and I have my life.”

But for Marvin, wasn’t she the path he chose?

    His gaze intensified.

“Why can’t I be with you always? Baylee, do you not like me?”

    What a surprise!

Marvin, usually so strong and unyielding, now asked Baylee if she disliked him, resembling a proud but affectionate dog… Baylee was taken aback by his straightforward question.

Would someone like him really sneak into her room at night?

Or was it just a fleeting dream, spurred by his kisses?

“Marvin, I appreciate you saving me, but…” Baylee paused, searching for the right words. “You know, it’s usually just family or romantic partners who live together. And you can’t just go around kissing me as you please. Surely, you’re aware of this, right?”

“Would you rather have me as your spouse or partner?” Marvin asked. The memory of Kaiden’s taunt fromst night echoed in his mind.

Firmly holding Baylee’s hand, he dered, “I’m going to marry you, Baylee.”

    Baylee stood there, speechless.

The sight of a charming, confident man proposing is something many dream of.

Since she was young, Baylee had imagined a man sincerely asking her, “Baylee, will you marry me?”

But the man she pictured wasn’t Marvin.

Acting on impulse, Baylee questioned, “Marvin, do you like me?”

“Yes, I like you,” Marvin responded without a second thought.

    Baylee’s heart fluttered.

She had heard the word “like” numerous times.

But it always ended up meaning nothing.

“I’m sorry,” she said, gently removing Marvin’s hand. “Marvin, since you’ve recovered, you’ve be overly reliant on me. This ‘liking’ you’re feeling, it’s just your mind ying tricks. I can’t ept that.”

    Marvin frowned, clearly unhappy.

    She doubted his words.

“Do you have feelings for someone else?” he spected.

It seemed clear to him who this other person might be.

“No,” she replied firmly. Speaking of Quincy, Baylee remainedposed. “Quincy’s with Aphrodite now. He and I are nothing more than acquaintances.”

As Baylee looked at Marvin, she felt a sense of liberation from her past ties with Quincy.

For two years, she had seemed indifferent, yet she carried deep-seated emotions about their history.
