Chapter 446

    ?Chapter 446:

Gerardo, ignoring Demi, turned back to Jerome, insisting on finding out who had yed the violin.

Demi was left standing in awkward silence. Hushed whispers filled the air around her.

“I can’t fathom why Erick’s still with her,” someone muttered.

“Maybe she’s got some tricks in bed,” another voice suggested, a hint of mockery in their tone.

A wave of anger washed over Demi. Then, a thought struck her—Ellie had followed Kaiden upstairs earlier!

    Ellie, again.

Why did it always have to be Ellie?!

Meanwhile, Ellie, feeling out of ce next to Kaiden, whispered, “I think I’ll go find Edwin.”

“Why him?” Kaiden asked, a hint of displeasure in his voice.

Ellie looked at him, puzzled. Because she had gotten along well with Edwin recently.

“Kaiden, don’t be so possessive. Everyone knows she’s with you,” Theo interjected, trying to ease the tension.

Kaiden pondered for a moment. He knew Edwin well enough and realized he couldn’t keep Ellie away from Edwin forever. “Alright, go ahead,” he said, affectionately ruffling her hair.

“Please show some mercy on Edwin, Ellie,” Theo said with a smile.

“Don’t beat my brother too badly at cards.”

Ellie grinned, waving as she left. “For you, Theo, I’ll go easy on him!” The gathered presidents exchanged surprised nces. When had Ellie be so close with Theo that she could casually joke about Edwin? Ellie… she had truly changed from the person she once was.

As Ellie made her way across the hall to join Edwin and others in the side hall, Carole called out to her. “Miss Gordon, please wait!” She had been observing Ellie and Kaiden for a while, waiting for a moment when Ellie would be alone.

Ellie nced at Carole but didn’t stop walking.

Carole, determined, blocked Ellie’s path. “I know the truth,” she said bluntly. “You married Kaiden not out of love, but because of a…”

    “Marriage alliance.”

Ellie paused, squinting slightly at Carole.

Carole let out a chuckle, as if she had uncovered a great secret. “It’s all because of the Gordon and Thorpe families’ arrangement. And you,” she continued, “You’re not even the Gordon family’s real daughter.”

Ellie faced Carole with an indifferent gaze. “So what?” she asked coolly.

“Does that change the fact that I’m Kaiden’swful wife?”

Carole was indifferent to Ellie’s words. Ellie had married Kaiden, but the future of their union seemed uncertain.

“Miss Gordon, do you know why Kaiden didn’t ask me to call you my sister-inw?” Carole taunted.

Ellie replied with disinterest, “I don’t care to know.”

She regretted engaging with Carole. She would have rather stayed with Kaiden, enduring his tedious business discussions.
