Chapter 436

    ?Chapter 436:

Ellie hadn’t expected Kaiden to be willing to attend Jorge’s birthday party, given theirplicated history.

It would be considered quite charitable if he simply refrained from bringing a knife to the event.

She pondered for a moment and then asked, “Will your mother be there?” It was the only possibility that came to her mind.

If Brisa attended, Kaiden might consider going.

“You are incredibly astute,” Kaiden remarked with a kiss to her face, praising her intelligence.

Jorge’s birthday party was set to be avish affair, with invitations extended to the elite from various circles. Kaiden’s absence would tarnish Jorge’s reputation.

Concerned about his pride, Jorge wouldn’t let that happen. Hence, he used the leverage of Brisa to persuade Kaiden to attend.

“Alright,” Ellie agreed. She was eager to meet Brisa and thought it might be an opportunity. “In that case, I’ll select a couple more outfits for your mother tomorrow morning.”

As far as Ellie could recall, Brisa was a woman who valued etiquette and fashion, always dressed impably.

But Kaiden unexpectedly interrupted, saying, “Ellie, you’ve got it all wrong.”

“What?” Ellie’s eyes widened in surprise at Kaiden’s revtion.

Kaiden gently brushed his fingertips against her face, a faint smile ying on his lips as he exined, “She is your mother too.”

He emphasized the connection between Ellie and Brisa. While Ellie had been his wife, it meant that Brisa was also her mother.

Ellie’s eyshes trembled, and her heart skipped a beat.

It was a simple statement, but it carried significant meaning. It was a sign of his acknowledgment and eptance of her.

The following day, the moment Ellie sat up in bed, she was greeted by Kaiden’s voice.

“You’re up so early. It seems like you lied to me about being tiredst night,” he teased.

When Ellie saw Kaiden sitting in the armchair beside the bed, engrossed in reading documents, she found herself momentarily speechless.

    “Howe you’re not at work?”

Kaiden was at a loss for words, a rare urrence for the CEO. He didn’t offer a verbal response, but his expression disyed an undeniable pride and stubbornness.

After all, he was the boss. So what if he didn’t go to work?

    Who would fire him?

“I just happen to have some free time today, so I thought I’d go shopping with you,” Kaiden dered without any change in his expression.

Ellie tilted her head, regarding him curiously. “Mr. Thorpe, is it challenging to admit that you want to select clothing for your mother?” she inquired with a hint of amusement.

Upon their initial encounter, Ellie had noticed that Kaiden didn’t seem to have a close bond with Brisa.

He referred to her by her first name rather than as “mom.”
