    “What is this bitch implying? How dare she insult my soup like that?” she muttered to herself, her face turning a shade of angry red. “Miss Gordon, is there something you’d like to say to me?” Carole asked, pretending to be hurt.

    But before she could respond, her nausea saved her from answering.


    Out of the blue, Cayson asked, “Mrs. Thorpe, could you be pregnant?” Suddenly, the room went silent.


    Ellie could feel Kaiden’s grip tighten around her waist, a clear sign he was emotionally still.


    Hearing this, Carole’s eyes went wide with shock. It felt like a direct hit.


    “Let’s get you to the hospital immediately!” Kaiden quickly scooped Ellie up, his voice shaking as he spoke.


    Ellie, caught off guard, instinctively wrapped her arms around Kaiden’s neck.


    “No! I’m not pregnant!”

    “Kaiden, I want toe to the hospital with you!” Carole insisted. “I think I should get checked up too.”


    “What’s the matter with you?” Kaiden inquired.
