?Chapter 362:
Ever since Kaiden started pretending to be disabled, his quality of life had drastically declined. For nearly ten years, countless people ridiculed him constantly for being unable to work. Enduring such emotional distress was not something an average person could handle.
What normal person didn’t want to run in the sun when they were young?
“Ellie, are you feeling sorry for me?” he whispered in a hushed voice, cradling her face in one hand as he pressed his forehead against hers. Ellie answered without hesitation, “Yes.”
She felt sorry that Kaiden had to pretend to be disabled for his mother’s sake. She felt sorry that he had a father who yed favorites and a mother who disregarded her son for love. But more than anything else, she was sorry that he had to endure all of this and keep on sacrificing himself.
Kaiden’s heart skipped a beat, and a smile lit up his eyes. He was slightly stunned but couldn’t resist the urge to kiss Ellie’s lips. As their lips met, his heart raced even faster. This kiss was not motivated by lust. It was gentle and soothing.
“Don’t worry,” Kaiden said. “Your husband won’t be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.”
He would not continue as a disabled person. After all, he couldn’t allow her to feel sorry for him all the time. Ever since they visited Jorge, Kaiden had been in a gloomy mood. But a few words from Ellie had lifted his spirits.
Due to how hard Kaiden and Ellie went at it the previous night, she fell asleep a short whileter. Kaiden stared at Ellie’s sleeping face, a pleased smile on his face. The peaceful silence in the room was shattered by the ringing of his phone.
Afraid that the noise would wake Ellie up, Kaiden quickly picked up the phone and went to the balcony to answer it.
“Kaiden, I’ll be back on Friday. Are you free to pick me up?” It was Carole.
Kaiden was about to reply, but Carole continued, “I haven’t returned home in a long time. I want to pay homage to Leo. Can you take me there?”
“Yes.”
Kaiden couldn’t turn her down on this.

Carole said happily, “Then see you on Friday. I’ll send you my flight information. I’d like to thank you in advance for picking me up.”
Kaiden frowned. He was talking about the homage thing. How did Carole automatically interpret that to mean that he would pick her up?
However, Kaiden found it difficult to exin what he really meant, nor could he refuse to help her since they had known each other for many years.
Anyway, he was only going to pick her up from the airport, and it wasn’t something to make a big deal out of.
“Oh right, I almost forgot. It’s nighttime there. I didn’t disturb your rest, did I?” Carole suddenly said.
Kaiden stared at Ellie’s sleeping form and said, “No.”
His short answer left Carole no choice but to say, “Then I won’t disturb you, Kaiden. Bye.”
“Bye.”
Kaiden hung up the phone immediately.
The smile on Carole’s face froze, and she suddenly felt depressed.
