Chapter 314

    ?Chapter 314:

Ellie, surprised by his easy consent, missed the indulgent tone in his voice.

“Thank you. I’ll just look at the address book. I won’t snoop through your phone,” she exined, quickly scanning his address book.

Her heart sank when she didn’t find her name.

Carole had mentioned not knowing it was her who had called. This meant Kaiden hadn’t saved her number with a note. And now, she couldn’t find her number in his address book at all.

Ellie asked, “You… Don’t you have my number?”

From that point of view, her eyes were deep and unreadable.

“Of course I have,” Kaiden responded, entering the digits of her number into his phone’s search bar. Soon enough, a phone number appeared.

Ellie’s eyes caught her number, beled: My wife.

As she flipped through the address book, she was so focused on finding her name that she initially overlooked these two words. Staring at Kaiden, Ellie’s heart seemed to spring back to life, pounding with renewed energy. Each beat resonated within her chest.

After a brief pause, Ellie lowered her gaze back to his phone, scrolling through his call history.

She found the day she received the prize in Parasti.

But there was no record of her call to him!

Ellie looked up at Kaiden, her expression one of shock.

“What’s the matter?” Kaiden sensed something unusual about her behavior today.

“On the 13th ofst month, I called you,” Ellie exined, pointing to his phone. “But there’s no record of it. I called right before receiving my award. A woman answered your phone.”

    Kaiden frowned.

    Feel the thrill at gα?ησν????s﹒??o??

He hadn’t known that a woman had answered Ellie’s call until now.

Thanks to his sharp memory, Kaiden remembered being in a phone-restricted meeting that day, preventing him from having his phone by his side. It had been with Zoey.

“Did Zoey answer it?” he asked.

“No, it wasn’t her…” Ellie hesitated, the name “Carole” on her mind, but she stopped herself and said, “The voice didn’t sound like Zoey.” There was a hesitation within her to bring up that name, as if she was subconsciously avoiding it.

It was an instinct, perhaps to avoid confrontation or for self-protection.

“Not his secretary?” Kaiden looked puzzled. “I’ll look into it.”

Ellie nodded, certain about one thing: Kaiden was unaware that Carole had answered her call. Someone had erased the call log, leaving him clueless about her attempt to reach him.

She wanted to confront Carole, but the woman hadn’t stepped out of line. Carole hadn’t said anything offensive.
