    Spotting Ellie and Kaiden, he said, “Mr. Thorpe, Mrs. Thorpe. Herman and Maggie have been taken to the police station. The police need you to go over and give a brief statement.”


    Kaiden nodded, signaling for Bruce to drive them there. Ellie sighed.


    She had wanted to visit her teachers, but Herman’s incident had derailed that n.

    “Herman is Maggie’s nephew. Maggie once envisioned a marriage between Herman and me,” she revealed.


    As Kaiden’s countenance darkened swiftly, Ellie continued deliberately, “However, that’s not the crux of the matter. Maggie wishes to introduce me to Herman because her daughter has taken a liking to you. Maggie simply wants me to step aside and allow her daughter to marry you.”
