Chapter 278

    ?Chapter 278:

    “Do you like it?”

Kaiden’s voice echoed from the dressing room, already dressed.

Heart racing, Ellie asked uncertainly, “Where did this ringe from?” She remembered Freddy casually mentioning herck of a ring just yesterday afternoon. How did Kaiden manage this so quickly?

“Do you like it?” Kaiden approached, knelt on one knee on the bed, and gently kissed Ellie on the cheek.

Ellie’s eyes widened, and she covered her mouth, eximing, “I haven’t brushed my teeth yet!”

Kaiden raised an eyebrow, silently prompting her for a response. With one hand still covering her mouth, Ellie nced at the sparkling ring and couldn’t help but nod. “Yes.” Kaiden’s face lit up with a satisfied smile.

He had chosen the diamond under Brisa’s guidance, who had reminded him about marriage even in her illness. After Ellie joined him at the Thorpes’ house, he had the ring tailored to her size.

He had thought, since she was his wife, she should have what other wives had.

Now, Kaiden felt thankful for his past decision, yet regretted not giving her the ring sooner.

“It’s still early. Why not sleep a bit more?” Observing Ellie’s drowsiness, Kaiden recognized that her prior temporary alertness had been due to the influence of the ring.

Ellie nodded and settled back into the quilt.

When Kaiden quietly closed the bedroom door behind him, Ellie nced at his left hand, noticing the tinum ring on his finger. As Kaiden was about to head downstairs, he paused, remembering something. He turned back.

There, he saw Ellie asleep, her face serene and gentle in slumber, a stark contrast to her usual assertiveness.

Kaiden’s expression softened. He leaned down, kissed her forehead, and whispered, “Good morning, my dear wife.”

When Ellie awoketer, it was almost midday.

As she was getting dressed, there was a rapid knock at the door.

    “Mrs. Thorpe, are you up?”

Cayson rarely disturbed the master bedroom unless it was something important.

Quickly finishing dressing, Ellie opened the door, asking, “What’s the matter?”

“Mrs. Thorpe, the security team reported a young boy has been sitting at our gate for over an hour. He won’t leave, and he hasn’t said who he’s looking for,” Cayson reported with a hint of concern.

Ellie grabbed her coat and headed out, saying, “I’ll go see what’s going on.”

Outside, the chill ofte December was biting.

The Moon Manor’s security guards stood by the gate, looking worriedly at a boy squatting a few meters away.
