?Chapter 275:
“The media is making things up. I attended Carole’s exhibition as a friend,” Kaiden exined.
His words fell on deaf ears. They seemed like mere excuses, cking any genuine effort to provide a usible exnation.
“When you went to Tormeto for her exhibition, did you know your wife snagged an award the same day?” Ellie sneered.
Witnessing the rare astonishment on Kaiden’s face, Ellie couldn’t help but let out a self-mockingugh, teasingly remarking, “Sherell extended his congrattions, yet you remained oblivious to my triumph.”
In a moment tinged with expectation, Ellie reached out to Kaiden. “Why keep it a secret from me?”
Kaiden, donning a puzzled frown, inquired, “What’s the nature of this award?”
“It holds no significance now,” Ellie responded with a touch of resignation.
Gently tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, Kaiden murmured, “Then allow me to apany you during future award ceremonies.” Regarding the recent de Ellie had acquired, Kaiden decided to seek Sherell’s insights at ater time.
Though Kaiden’s words appeared mundane, they carried the weight of a promise.
Feeling an overwhelming sense of injustice, Ellie’s eyes welled up, and she dared not blink, fearing tears would betray her.
“What about the mask? You im tock the time to craft one for me, yet you manage to fashion one for Carole? I saw the post Carole shared!” Ellie asked through gritted teeth.
Kaiden’s silence regarding the mask was an attempt not to overextend himself. Little did he anticipate that Ellie would be privy to this information.
Making a mental note to gift a sports car to Edwin the next day, Kaiden was grateful for Edwin’s revtion about Ellie’s negative feelings. Without his help, Kaiden would have remained oblivious to why Ellie had been upset with him.
He then rified, “It wasn’t from me.”
“But it’s credited to Mr. Thorpe,” Ellie countered, skepticism coloring her words. “Do you think I’m easily fooled?”
Struggling to exin that the event was simply a coincidence, Kaiden dialed a number on his phone.
Perplexed, Ellie questioned the sudden initiation of the call by Kaiden. Without hesitation, Kaiden opted to put the call on speaker.
The voice of a woman, clear and yful, echoed through the speaker. “Kaiden, you actually called me voluntarily. That’s a rarity,” she teased.
“Carole, someone ims the mask in your post is from me. Is this true?” Kaiden, looking at Ellie, confronted Carole.
Ellie couldn’t help but wonder if this “someone” was alluding to her. She expressed her discontent by pursing her lips, her demeanor unhappy.
Carole, caught off guard, apologized. “Kaiden, I’m sorry. A friend with the samest name as you gave me the mask. I didn’t expect it to cause any trouble. If it bothers you, I can delete the post.”
