    Being Kaiden’s wife, she tried to reason that jealousy was pointless, especially since she had always known about the attention Kaiden attracted. Yet, the media’s portrayal of Kaiden’s involvement in Carole’s exhibition, hinting at a romantic connection, was something Ellie couldn’t ignore.


    Returning to Moon Manor, Ellie found the names Kaiden and Carole incessantly haunting her thoughts.


    Ellie’s intuition whispered that this Carole was nothing like the duchess Kaiden had encountered in Estoqua. Lacking concrete proof, she couldn’t shake off the suspicion that the phone call she made before her award eptance was possibly answered by Carole.


    Seated on the sofa, Ellie’s reverie was interrupted by Kaiden’s iing call.


    “Hello,” she answered, her voice subdued.


    “What’s the matter?” Kaiden’s voice carried a note of concern.


    “Nothing’s wrong,” Ellie replied, clutching a pillow. She could imagine the distress evident on her face.


    “Are you upset?” Kaiden’s intuition picked up on her emotional state. His simple inquiry somehow released the pent-up frustration in Ellie’s heart, bringing her to the brink of tears.


    “No,” she responded, feigning nonchnce. “What is it?”


    “I’ll be at the airport by three this afternoon. Come pick me up, and we’ll head to Edwin’s mother’s birthday together.”

    “She’s clearly not herself.”


    Bruce was momentarily speechless, pondering the unusual concern Kaiden showed for Ellie’s mood. He thought that Kaiden was paying too much attention to her. Was it possible that Kaiden had fallen in love?


    Efficiently carrying out Kaiden’s order, Bruce soon reported to him, “Mrs. Thorpe had recently filled in as a dancer for a crew. Demi had someone upload a video of Mrs. Thorpe’s dancing, but she manipted it to avoid showing Mrs. Thorpe’s face, insinuating it was her performance.”


    Bruce doubted Ellie would be upset over such a trivial matter, but he couldn’t think of any other exnation.
