    The moment Kaiden’s wheelchair rolled through the door, he stood up and pressed Ellie against it.

    Usually, when he was angry, there was an eerie silence, as if he locked someone in a cold, dark room to reflect.

    A ripping sound echoed through the air, and Ellie’s eyes widened in shock. “Ouch…”


    Her voice finally escaped her throat.


    It felt like a relentless game, more of a one-sided exertion of power. Kaiden was forcing Ellie to surrender, drawing cries and pleas from her.


    He persisted, constantly questioning her actions, as though he were an instructive teacher quizzing a struggling student who understood the material. It was as if he were guiding the hesitant student to grasp the solutions through example, encouraging them to uncover the principles behind their responses.


    “I’m not your keeper, and I’m in no position to control you. From the start, I’ve given you your freedom. What do you expect me to do, Kaiden?” Ellie shouted, her anger and grievances spilling over, tears flowing from her eyes—whether from physical pain or emotional turmoil. Kaiden’s handsome face glistened with sweat. He wore a sneer, as though he had just heard an absurd joke.


    “Ellie, you’re my wife. If you’re not qualified, then who is?”

She returned to the topic at hand, her eyes gleaming with a mixture of surprise and disbelief. “Are you really willing to let me take charge of you? You’ll do as I say, no matter what it is?”


    Do as she said? Ridiculous.


    Kaiden barely held back a derisive snort. “It would depend on what you require of me, of course.”
