Chapter 190

    ?Chapter 190:

“Yes, do you need me to wake him?” Ellie inquired.

“No, no,” Bruce replied quickly. “Mr. Thorpe was too busy in Estoqua. He only slept for less than ten hours in three days. When he came back home, he went to the police station to pick you up. Now he’s not only tired, but also jetgged. I’ll postpone the meeting. Please tell Mr. Thorpe when he wakes up.”

How could a subordinate urge his boss to go to work? Bruce didn’t want to risk getting fired.

As Ellie looked at Kaiden sleeping beside her, a faint frown between his brows, she wondered if he was truly this exhausted. Almost without thinking, she reached out and gently smoothed his brow with her fingers.

At that moment, Kaiden opened his eyes.

“What are you doing?” Kaiden’s grip tightened on Ellie’s wrist.

His eyes, though clouded with sleep, still managed to unsettle her.

Ellie’s body tensed briefly. Then, finding her voice, she replied, “Bruce called. He said he didn’t see you at the meeting and nned to postpone it. Let go of me… please.”

Kaiden released her wrist and sat up, the haze of sleep lifting from his eyes.

“Should I tell Bruce to go ahead with the meeting?” Ellie suggested. In her rough estimate, Kaiden could be ready and at GT Group within the hour. The meeting could still happen.

Kaiden responded, “Mrs. Thorpe, your husband’s absence from work doesn’t change the fact he has enough money to support you.” He was implying that she didn’t need to hurry him to the office.

“Who needs your support?” she muttered under her breath.

Eyeing Kaiden with a hint of suspicion, she added, “Postponing a meeting affects the entirepany. Even as president, shouldn’t you set an example?”

“Ellie, you sound like my assistant.” Kaiden sighed inwardly. His ns for the day shifted unexpectedly. Since she insisted, he’d go to the office.

“Come on, I’m not your assistant, okay?” Ellie’s eyes widened in disbelief.

As Kaiden neared the changing room, he paused and beckoned her.

    “Come here.”

    “Need help picking a tie?”

Ellie, groggy from sleep, took her time approaching.

Before she reached him, he nced down and frowned. Looking at Ellie’s bare feet, he instructed, “Wear shoes.”

Ellie wiggled her toes and replied, “The floor heating’s on. It’s warm. Eh.” Before she could finish, Kaiden swiftly lifted her, aligning her body with the bed’s edge and guiding her feet into her pink cotton slippers.

“Put on your shoes,” Kaiden urged.

Ellie, caught off guard, slipped her feet into the slippers in a daze. Satisfied, Kaiden took her hand and led her back to the changing room.
