?Chapter 146:
“My choctes! Ellie, you… You’ve taken them from me!” Essence sputtered, her anger nearly bringing her to tears. Ellie couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a quick smile flicker across Kaiden’s face, which promptly vanished as he turned to Marcus. Observing Ellie ascend the final stair, Marcus felt a surge of unease and cautiously ventured, “Mr. Thorpe, about you and Miss Gordon…”
“My wife is quite mischievous,” Kaiden interjected smoothly. “Please, Mr. Robbins, don’t take it to heart.”
His words were a deft deflection, yet they carried an unmistakable weight.
Ellie had just reached the final step when she turned in shock. Essence and Marcus seemed frozen.
Ellie couldn’t fathom that Kaiden had dered her his wife in front of them.
He openly embraced their union.
A barrier in Ellie’s heart shattered.
A brisk breeze brushed past her, and her pulse somehow quickened. She acknowledged Kaiden as her husband yet hesitated to fullymit, craving a clear affirmation.
Praised since childhood, Ellie had never felt validated by her family. Not long before, she had discovered that the Gordons were not her real family at all.
But now, Kaiden’s affirmation of her status as his wife made her recognize a genuine connection between them.
Trembling, she averted her gaze, swiftly entering the study to conceal her turmoil.
Kaiden’s icy tone filled the room. “Mr. Robbins, I expected a reason for your failure in parenting today.”
Abruptly pulled back to reality, Marcus and Essence suddenly understood that they hade here to offer an apology.
A deep chill ran through both of them.
Ellie, oblivious to Kaiden’s conversation with Marcus and Essence, had just finished hertest image design. Standing on the balcony to rest her eyes, she watched Marcus and Essence walk out of the main building with heavy hearts.

Upon opening the door and stepping out, Ellie unexpectedly encountered Kaidening up the stairs.
Inevitably, they bumped into each other.
Blinking back surprise, Ellie managed to say, “You… You just informed them that we are married?”
“What’s wrong with that? Aren’t we married?” Kaiden asked in a gentle tone.
Ellie cast her eyes downward, replying softly, “Well, that’s right.” She sought only to affirm the truth.
As night enveloped the house, the continuous sound of crashing water filled the space.
It went on for about an hour.
Ellie listened carefully for any sound outside the bathroom. Hearing someone enter the room, she quickly turned off the shower.
“Kaiden?” she called out softly.
“Yes,” Kaiden responded, having just returned from the study and detecting the nervousness in her voice.
